Figma

“As we consider the design of our system, we found that our current drafts model—where drafts live outside of teams—causes unclear ownership, lack of team association, and inconsistent product experiences.”

Yeah, no, looks like another money grab to me—cracking down on free accounts who keep a normal amount of files in Drafts.

I haven’t used a free account in years but hobbling it this way is going to cut off their good-will-pathway for new customers. A lot of existing people and new people yet to try Figma out are going to give up and switch to another tool.

The only thing this is, is a money grab, and the announcement copy is hugely disingenuous.

I really don’t get this negative reaction (mainly on Twitter). Can someone help me understand why so many people are upset?

From my point of view; Creating a free ‘Starter’ team takes like 15 seconds, and gives you unlimited private drafts. They haven’t really changed how drafts work from a free account’s perspective, no?

I think it’s great that I can now have multiple Drafts folders instead of only one. (I can have my wife’s drafts in her own team drafts folder, making it easier for her to find her files when she occasionally need some design support).

Do you see it as a trick to fool people into accidentally becoming paid Editors or what is the “money grab” here?
