Does extended collections replace semantics? (Schema 2025)

I noticed in Schema 2025 that Extended Collections were built based upon Primitive (Source) tokens and didn’t utilise Semantic tokens.

When building a multi-brand design system, is this best practice now with the introduction of Extended Collections?
