Question

Dev mode upgrade request notification keeps appearing

I keep on getting a reminder to head into dev mode to remind admins about an upgrade request. Like all the time. Every 10 or 20 minutes maybe. I don't think I ever made an upgrade request and I'm not part of any group that has admins. I signed up with my work email but I'm the only person at the company who uses Figma. It never happens on my personal account.

Are other people receiving this as well? It's very annoying.

I’ve been getting the same reminder too, even though I never submitted an upgrade request or joined a team with admins. It pops up every 10–20 minutes and is pretty distracting. Seems like it might be a bug hoping Figma can look into this soon.

Hey All, thank you for flagging this!

Apologies for the frustration this has caused your workflows. I sent this over to our Dev mode team to investigate, and they confirmed that it is a bug. They’re already working on a fix that will be deployed soon.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

You’re welcome!

I’ll be sure to provide an update as soon as it’s launched to ensure you refresh your tabs and push the fix.

Hey, I’ve noticed something similar when using a work account on Figma. It seems like some notifications are tied to your account being the “admin” by default if there’s no one else in your team. I’d check your notification settings under Admin/Team settings and maybe reach out to Figma support they can often clear these recurring reminders.

For me, switching off certain email and in-app alerts helped cut down the constant pop-ups.

Hey! I’ve seen this happen sometimes when Figma thinks there’s a pending upgrade or admin action linked to your email. You might want to check your account settings or reach out to Figma support—they can clear any phantom requests.

I had this issue a few weeks ago. Logging out and back in with my work email helped for a while, but the reminder came back. Looks like a bug.

Hi @Wirkkarl, thanks for following up!

When did you last refresh your tabs? You mentioned logging out and back in a few weeks ago, but our team just began rolling out the fix yesterday afternoon.

Just to clarify, are you still seeing the notification after refreshing or logging out and back in today?

Same here, everytime I access the page it shows this Reminder. I simply don't want to use Dev mode. How to disable it to never show again?

Hey @RodrigoW, thanks for chiming in!

I let the team know that there may still be an issue. They’re now investigating further.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding.

Please, please stop asking if I want to enable Dev Mode.

Once a month? Sure.

Once a week? A little excessive, but fine.

Every day? Please stop.

Multiple times a day, with the impression being it’s happening every time I open Figma? Come on.

Hey @Sean5505, thanks for chiming in here!

Our team is looking into the Figma accounts of everyone listed under this topic. May I ask if you’re using the latest version of Figma? And when did this issue begin for you: months, weeks, or days ago?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful for our team, since they thought they pushed a fix that should have addressed it a couple of weeks ago.

@djv This problem still isn’t solved. I’m getting this pop up too and it’s super annoying. I literally clicked it, it went away for all of 5 seconds, and it came back immediately.

This is in the Figma app on Mac desktop. Version 125.9.10

There should be a Dismiss button on the pop up and a setting to turn off Admin Reminders. If I want to remind my admins, I will do it myself

Hi @merlin-they, thanks for chiming in here and apologies for the confusion!

I unmarked my previous reply, since the team has still been investigating this issue for the new users under this topic since September 19th.

As I mentioned above, when did this issue begin for you: months, weeks, or days ago?

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful for our team, since they thought they pushed the fix that they believed should have addressed it last month.

Hi @djv!

For me it still displays every time I open any design, in fact, it loads before the design. Please make an option to not display it again.  this is becoming really annoying. There is nothing I can do with that option, insisting on asking me to move to Dev mode is not just counterproductive, it is also annoying, distracting, misses the point of just quickly opening a design to check it and close.

PS: There is even a pulsing growing circle around it, which also takes more attention. Also, I know I can't edit, and I don't want to. Why keep displaying it too?

Thanks for the additional context, @RodrigoW

I’ll pass this onto our team as the continue to investigate why this continues to pop up and provide the feedback to hopefully implement a feature in the future that allows it to be hidden for good.

@djv It’s been at least a few weeks and it appears every day. Why is this taking so long to fix?

Also, if it helps, I clicked the button and it went away, but immediately came back about 30 minutes later.

At this point, it feels very much intentional as some sort of means to force people into upgrading.

Yes, as a developer, I understand bugs happen and they can be extremely difficult to find. That said, I really don’t see how or why this would be so difficult to fix. If this was in React, the tooltip would be tied to the button and also a user setting, and the bug would lie in how the user setting is applied. But there is no user setting, and there absolutely should be. There’s also no close button on the tooltip, which should also be there to be user friendly.

This is likely a Figma bug causing repeated upgrade reminders for your account. You should contact Figma Support to have the phantom notifications cleared, as there’s no upgrade request pending and you’re the only user from your company.

How hard can it be to stop spamming a notification? Please remove this, give us a tool to remove it, add a close button to it, anything, just adding a random notification that can be dismissed is ridiculous.

Hi @Arthur De Souza, thanks for chiming in here!

As part of the investigation, our team built a tool where we can check if a user has:
1. Seen this Send your Admins a reminder tooltip
2. Requested a Dev mode seat upgrade
3. Been pushed any other types of tooltip reminders

In your case, it looks like you actually requested a Dev mode seat upgrade on 10/31. You’ll want to reach out to your Org Admin directly to let them know that this was a mistake and that they can reject the seat upgrade. This should ensure that you stop receiving the Send your Admins a reminder tooltip.

As mentioned previously by @donixo, if your Admin has already rejected all seat requests, please submit a bug report to our support team: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

They can investigate further, if there’s anything specific happening with your Org’s seat requests.
