I've been working on the UX for a dream journal experience and found that the biggest challenge isn't writing the entry—it's helping users capture their thoughts before they forget them.
Some of the design questions I'm exploring are:
- How can the first screen reduce friction immediately after waking up?
- Should users be encouraged to write freely first, or guided with prompts like emotions, symbols, and recurring themes?
- What's the best way to visualize recurring dream patterns without overwhelming the interface?
- Would timeline views, tags, or searchable symbols make reviewing old entries more useful?
- If AI-generated insights are included, how would you present them so they feel helpful rather than distracting?
I'm especially interested in hearing how you would approach:
- Information architecture
- Mobile-first journaling UX
- Dashboard and data visualization
- Accessibility for low-light or bedtime use
- Empty states and onboarding
I'd love to hear how other designers would structure a dream journal experience and what interactions or components you think would make the experience more intuitive.
