Design shifting from layout/template across random slides

Hi, we are having an issue with figma slides and the layout shifting on random slides when a certain user joins. The left margin seems to disappear and information on that side hugs to the outside of the frame. It appears to be random but the shift is identical across a random number of slides.

What is going on? Thanks

Hey @Helen_Steed, welcome to the Figma Forum and thanks for flagging this!

Appreciate you taking the time to describe what you're seeing — that definitely shouldn't be happening. I tried to recreate this on my end but wasn't able to get the same result, so it would be really helpful to narrow things down a bit more.

Any chance you could share the following?

  1. Does this happen consistently every time that specific user joins? And does it require them to take any action, or does simply entering the file trigger the shift?
  2. Can you duplicate the file while the margins are properly aligned, invite that user, and let us know whether the layout stays intact once they've accessed the copy? This will help us understand if the issue is specific to the file or something broader.
  3. Is your team accessing the file via browser or the Figma Desktop App? If using the Figma Desktop App, can you confirm it's fully up to date with no pending updates? This ensures everyone is running the latest version of Figma.
  4. A screen recording of the issue in action (including the side panels) so we can check for any changes in values there.

I also went to check for any other reports matching this behavior and haven’t picked up on any trends yet, so the above details will be helpful in figuring out next steps. Thanks for staying engaged as we troubleshoot — I'll keep an eye out for your reply, and may escalate to our Product Support team depending on what these reveal. 🙏🏻
