Delete Library without leaving file

The previous designers of my team turned to library every file that they created because they thought it was a good practice to turn each final screen into a component.

Now I have a huge libraries list that is worthless but I still want to be the owner/editor of the source files.

Is there a way to cleanup this mess?

You can unpublish the library, without impacting the file itself. For each file that you want to turn back into a design file, instead of a published library, do the following:

In the Manage Libraries modal, click into the current file where it says ‘Assets created in this file’. In the bottom corner, you’ll see an Unpublish button next to the Publish button.
