I’m trying to copy and paste from Adobe Illustrator to Figma without the text being converted into outlines. The content is a mixture of vector graphics and editable text. Due to the amount of text, the Figma prototype I’m working on becomes jerky and slow. This would not be a problem if the text existed as editable text.

I have tried 2 plugins to resolve it. Convertify was useless and converted all of the text to outlines. Illustrator Importer was better, managing to import the text as editable, but it added anomalies such as incorrect font sizes, weights, alignment, etc.

Manually recreating the text in Figma would take far too long and I just don’t consider it to be a viable solution. This is unworkable due to the layout of the text, rather than the amount of text.

Does anyone know of a way to import from Illustrator with the text remaining editable (not converted to outlines)?

I miss Adobe XD, which didn’t have any of these problems. It imported text as editable text and the prototype was fast and smooth on all devices. It’s a mystery to me why so many people prefer Figma, which I have found to be slow and clunky in comparison.
