When I copy a component and paste it only the text part of the component getting pasted, loosing all the properties associated with that component.

Hi there!

Would you mind sharing a quick screenshot of what happens when you paste the component? It might help better understand what exactly is getting lost.

Thanks in advance!

Hey @Anjana Rakesh! Yes, like @Ondrej_Pavlicek said a quick screen recording would be helpful to understand what you’re seeing on your end.

Sometimes, using just Copy → Paste doesn’t transfer all the component properties.Could you try using Copy/Paste as → Copy properties and then Paste properties instead? That usually preserves the properties.

I had a case where the user used Copy → Paste properties and no properties were transferred. You can see in my screen recording where I used both method. But when I used Copy/Paste as → Copy properties, it worked as expected.

Thank you for the responses. I had attached screen shots of the dropdown component I copied and what happens when I paste it. I am working with figma for almost 6 years and this is the first time I am experiencing this. Always I used just copy and paste.

Also this problem is with figma when I open in chrome. Copy and paste works perfectly when I open the file in Figma desktop app.

Thanks once again

Hey @Anjana Rakesh, thanks so much for sharing those screenshots—and my apologies for the delayed response.

It’s definitely strange that the issue only shows up in Chrome but not in the Figma desktop app. Just to help narrow things down, is your version of Chrome fully up to date?

Also, could you try using Copy/Paste as → Copy properties and then Paste properties in Chrome to see if that behaves any differently? If it’s still not working as expected, I’d be happy to connect you with our support team so they can dig in further and help get this sorted.

Thanks,

Gayani
