Converting a frame into a rectangle

I wonder if it’s possible to turn a frame into a rectangle ? If it is, which other shapes can a frame be turned into ?

When a rectangle is selected and frame selection is used, the rectangle is stored inside a frame. In that case, it’s intuitive to take the rectangle out of the frame. But I can’t figure it out when there’s a frame without any child layer.
