After trying to fix my settings on an old mac os, I somehow added a frequently visited toolbar which appears where the search engine usually would.
I’ve unticked the frequently visited and the screen is at max, so it wasn’t covered.
I’ve tried everything by looking at websites on my phone and many of the options they suggest choosing - such as settings/view …. but in my mac, view doesn’s appear under settings. (Lots of these examples).
I’ve rebooted. Only managed to log into google because the icloud website appears in the problematical toolbar and I changed the search.
Also can’t find word count in Pages for love nor money - same issues as above eg of settings/view.
