Probably your object is not placed inside the frame. Can you share a full screenshot?

Constraints can be a little tricky to spot when you’re new to Figma. Here’s how you can find and use them:

  1. Select an object inside a frame – Constraints only show up when your layer is inside a frame or component. If the object is just sitting on the canvas without a parent frame, you won’t see the constraints panel.

  2. Check the right-hand sidebar – Once the object is inside a frame, look in the right panel (under Design). You’ll see a section labeled Constraints. By default, it usually says Left & Top.

  3. Adjust as needed – From there, you can set whether the object stays fixed to the left, right, top, bottom, center, or stretches when the frame is resized.

If you’re practicing, draw a rectangle, put it inside a frame, and then resize the frame — you’ll see how the constraints behave.
