Love the new annotations, but my designs are dark and so are my annotations. I discovered it’s tied to the theme you select for Figma. I use dark theme so I’m getting black annotations. Is there any way to change the annotation theme without changing your Figma workspace theme? Also, will it present to others in the theme they have chosen regardless of my theme?

Hey @Kelly Cintron,

I see what you mean — while the text is visible, the annotation background can definitely blend into darker designs, which makes it harder to spot in some cases.

There isn't currently a way to adjust annotation backgrounds, but I can confirm that the display mode is device-specific. You can read more about how that works here: Change themes in Figma. While there isn’t currently a way to customize annotation background colors, two workarounds you might try:

  • use a colored category to help the annotation and connector stand out more.
  • adjust the canvas background to something more neutral so both light and dark annotations are easier to see.

Please let me know if those suggestions help. Also, I'd love to share more context with the product team — could you let me know if this is impacting your workflow in any specific way? I'll keep an eye out for your reply.
