Question

Can authors run an in-review plugin from the private Community page?

My plugin is currently in review. The private Community page says: “Only you can see it while your plugin is in review.”

I’m the plugin author and I can see the page, but when I click “Open in...”, Figma opens a file and the plugin keeps loading forever.

Local development version works, and local dist/manifest.json import also works.

Is the “Open in...” button expected to work for authors before approval? Or is the private listing only for previewing the Community page while the plugin is under review?

Hi @chendedezzz, Celyn from Figma Community Support here.

Thanks for reaching out and sharing these details.

I understand that you’re able to access your plugin’s private Community page while it’s under review, but when using the “Open in…” button, the plugin opens and continues loading indefinitely - even though your local development version and dist/manifest.json import are working as expected.

I’m checking in with our team to confirm whether this is expected behavior or something that needs a closer look. I’ll follow up here as soon as I have more information.

Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Hi @chendedezzz, thanks for your patience here.

I’ve confirmed with the team that you should still be able to run and test your plugin locally. However, since only organizations can publish privately, this does appear to be expected behavior if you’re trying to open it from the RDP.

Hope this helps, feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for confirming, Celyn. That clears it up.
