I have a slide in Figma Decks that uses a photo background. I’ve applied a color overlay and blur to the background. The blur set on the background affects all elements on the page. The color overlay does not affect the elements on top of it. I have tried ‘Bring to Front’ on the other elements with no change.


Steps to reproduce:



  1. Create a new deck in Figma Decks.

  2. Create a new slide and add a photo background (I’m using the ‘crop’ setting)

  3. Add a color overlay

  4. Add a blur (e.g. 5%)


Result:

All elements on slide appear blurred.


Expected result:

Only background should be blurred.


I recognize this product is still in beta, but this should be fixed before release or the option should be removed – I can’t see a use case for the blur option in it’s current state as it obscures any useful info on the slide.

I’ve checked internally, it looks like this is a bug our engineers are aware of.

While I can’t guarantee an ETA on a fix, I’ve gone ahead and raised this with the relevant team internally for visibility.
