Hello! I have a monthly FULL professional subscription to Figma, and we are working on a project where I am the owner with a full position, another person has a full position, and another has a Dev position. Since I am hardly editing the project, I switched to the ‘view’ position, and today the Dev told me that she has not been able to access the project. Is that why I changed my position? Does the fact that I am the project owner affect my change of role?

Hey @Yamila Marchi — welcome to Figma Forum, and thanks for raising this.

I’m not able to view or share account-specific details here in our public forums, but based on what you described, changing your permission from can edit to can view as the project owner could explain the access issues you’re seeing. When you have a moment, please double-check that you (and any relevant collaborators) still have can edit access, and let us know if that resolves things.

This guide may help as a visual reference for reviewing and adjusting access levels: Share files and prototypes → Share settings and permissions.

I also want to make sure the distinction you mentioned between Dev and Full seats is reviewed carefully for this file. I can see that you already have an open case with our Product Support team: 1658161. To help them take a closer look, please share the file link in that case and confirm that support-share@figma.com has can edit access (this won’t affect billing and simply allows the team to review permission settings).

I’ve added the context from this thread to your ticket so they have the full picture, and they’ll follow up directly via the email associated with your Figma account.

Thanks for your patience while the team takes a closer look. 🙏🏻

Hello! I have a monthly FULL professional subscription to Figma, and we are working on a project where I am the owner with a full position, another person has a full position, and another has a Dev position. Wise Rank is important here because since I am hardly editing the project, I switched to the ‘view’ position, and today the Dev told me that she has not been able to access the project. Is that why I changed my position? Does the fact that I am the project owner affect my change of role?

Yes. Because you are the project owner, switching your role to View can affect access for others. Dev access requires the file to have an active Full (editor) owner or editor, so when you changed your role, the Dev user likely lost access. Switching back to Full or transferring ownership to another Full editor should fix it.

Hello @Tom Reem ! Thank you very much for your reply! I have already emailed you the link to the file we are working on. On the other hand, I have switched to the Full position so that my colleague in Dev can work, because otherwise she couldn't work with my view position.

Thank you @fovibo ! My job is just to review the project, and sometimes I intervene if something needs to be “designed” or modified, but 100% of the work is done by my team. So it would be a good idea to pass my position on to another team member! Could you tell me how to do that?
