Hey everyone!

I’m looking to upgrade from my old tape measure and want recommendations for a reliable digital measurement tool.

I mainly do woodworking and some home DIY projects, so accuracy and ease of use are key. I’ve seen laser distance measurers and digital calipers online.

I want to start measuring more efficiently and precisely, especially when working with tight spaces or tricky angles. How do these tools perform in different lighting or surface conditions?

Any features I should look out for? Appreciate any input or real-world experiences.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I upgraded from a tape measure recently to laser measures they are fast and great for room layouts, but work best indoors on flat surfaces. Bright light can mess with accuracy. The Bosch GLM 20 is a solid pick.

Digital calipers are perfect for fine woodworking get one with a metal body and auto shutoff.

If you want to try before buying, you can rent both on https://toolbox.rent. I’ve done that a few times to test tools before committing.

I hope this helps!
