This is a very strange one and I’ve never encountered a problem like this before having used videos a lot in Figma.

I have an Artboard (Frame) which has a video on it. The video plays automatically and when it reaches the end it loops and begins from the start again…

The problem is, after the video loops seamlessly one. The 3rd time it plays/loops, it seems to start from approx 2 seconds from the end of the clip - then loops. So it almost ‘jumps back’ at the end.

So the follow would be:

  • Video plays through once
  • Then it loops once as it should
  • The next time it plays, it starts 1-2 seconds from the end of the video before going into the loop.

It’s so strange the video essentially plays perfect twice and then the 3rd time decides not to loop correctly.

I’ve dragged the video onto the Artboard/Frame and this occurs. I’ve tried wrapping it in another Frame and even setting as a ‘background asset’ and the problem is the same every way. There are no interactions or anything else. It’s literally just a video playing on a static page.

Has anyone encountered anything like this before? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

Just chiming in because I also have the same problem and have no idea how to solve it!

It’s a strange one. All other videos worked fine, some even longer than the one that’s not behaving correctly. I tried different codecs, reducing file size but nothing seemed to resolve it.

If I deleted the video and re-added it, it seemed to loop just fine. But as soon as I reopened the prototype the issue came back.

The only thing I can think of is because the videos is a screen recording of ‘using’ a UI. Figma is trying to match start/end frames and because stuff is similar it’s guessing wrong - but that’d be a strange way for autoplay/loop to work? 🤔

I’ve also tried re-exporting, lower bitrate, etc….but it still happens. I’m really now sure whats causing it but hopefully these posts might get some traction!
