Question

Anyone notice share links sometimes pointing to page instead of intended component?

Alamaki

Seems like creating a share link that points to specific frame or component instance sometimes creates a link that just points to a page. Doesn’t seem to happen consistently.

Hey @Alamaki - this is likely happening because you’re hitting the share button while you have a specific component selected.

When you do that, the link that generates will route right to the component when someone clicks the link. If you don’t have anything selected, the link you generate will just open up the file in general.

Yeah, it may be just a user error, but it does seem to happen when trying to link to specific element.

Did some more testing, and it happens consistently when trying to link to a text element that is on a page. Linkin to an element that is inside another also seems to create work to the outermost element.

Ah, yes I understand what you’re saying. This logic is expected at the moment – linking an element nested within a frame won’t hone into that particular element in an obvious way (it will do what you noticed and just go to the outermost element).

I see how this can seem inconsistent – I’ll shoot this feedback over to the teams that work on sharing 😊
