Question

Am I stupid? Published team library visible to admins but not to regular verified Education members

I'm an admin on an Education team. I've published a Figma Design file as a library containing 44 components. The library is enabled in team settings (toggled On for Design files), and the source file's sharing is set to "Anyone in Team_Name can edit." (changed temporarily, but I would prefer just view permissions).

As an admin, I can see and add the library from the Libraries modal in any file within the team. However, regular team members — who are verified Education users with member status (not guests) — cannot see the library at all. It does not appear when they search by name in Browse libraries, and it does not appear in their account Settings under the Library section.

Here's what we've already tried:

  • Confirmed the library is published (the Publish button is inactive, and I can use the library in other files with my admin account)
  • Confirmed the consuming files are located within the Team_Name team (not in Drafts or another team)
  • Confirmed affected users are verified Education members of the team
  • Toggled the library Off and back On in team settings
  • Changed file permissions to edit access for team members, and confirmed they can access it.
  • Had users search for the library by exact name in the Libraries modal

None of these steps resolved the issue. The library remains invisible to non-admin members. Has anyone encountered this or have suggestions for what to try next?

Thanks for your post, @George_Prundaru! Definitely not stupid - this is a reasonable thing to be puzzled by.

I know you did this for testing, but you can go ahead and set the source library back to can view for members - it’s sufficient for how you’re using the library and shouldn’t be related to what you are seeing.

Does the source library file itself also live in a project within “Team_Name”? You’ve confirmed that the consuming files do, but the source file’s location can also matter for library discovery and might explain why your members don’t see it.

Since the library is visible to admins but completely missing for regular team members, this sounds more like a team-level permission or library access issue than a publishing problem. I’d check whether the source file is located in a project with any access restrictions and whether the affected members can open the published library file directly. If possible, try publishing a small test library from a different project within the same team and see whether non-admin members can find it. If the test library is also invisible, it may be worth contacting Figma Support, since you’ve already ruled out several common causes. Include the team plan, project permissions, and whether the issue affects every non-admin member in the support request.
