AI Credits Exhausted Within Hours – Is This Expected? Can Figma Please Help?

Hi everyone,

I purchased Figma Professional yesterday (around 10:00 PM IST) mainly to use Figma Make for building my startup MVP.

I received 3,000 AI credits, but they were exhausted within a few hours. A large part of the usage came from multiple iterations because Figma Make often generated screens or flows that were different from what I intended, so I had to retry and refine several times.

I genuinely wasn't expecting the credits to run out this quickly during a normal design workflow. As a result, I couldn't even complete my project after purchasing the subscription just one day ago.

I have a few questions for the community:

  • Has anyone else experienced AI credits being consumed much faster than expected?
  • Is there any way to optimize credit usage?
  • Has anyone received a refund or a one-time credit restoration in a similar situation?

Since this purchase was made only yesterday, I would really appreciate it if the Figma team could review my case and consider a one-time refund or restoration of the AI credits.

I enjoy using Figma and would like to continue using it, but right now I'm unable to continue working because my AI credits are already exhausted.

Thank you for any advice or support.

This prompt answer consume 38 credit without any reason

Building Screen 6 — Ash Introduction + Home Screen now. This matches the reference image exactly — the Ash chat interface with new user onboarding state.

Screen 6 — Ash Introduction + Home Screen is built. Here's what you'll see:

What's on screen

Header (white bar):

  • Hamburger menu button (top-left)
  • Ash avatar (🤖 in dark circle) + "Ash" bold + "AI Assistant" subtitle (center)
  • Bell icon with green online dot + notification badge (top-right)

Chat area (light grey bg, like iMessage):

Messages reveal one by one with a typing indicator (3 bouncing dots) between each:

  1. (0.6s delay) → "Hi Simran, I am Ash, your AI assistant."
  2. (1.2s delay) → "I will help you to get 100% upfront payment for your brand collaboration."
  3. (1.2s delay) → "Ready to get started?" card with:
    • 🟢 Setup your profile → green icon, subtitle, arrow
    • 🟣 New collaboration → purple icon, subtitle, arrow

Quick chips row (horizontal scroll, no scrollbar):

  • ✨ How does upfront payment work? →
  • 🛡️ How do I secure payment? →
  • ❓ Help & support →

Input bar:

  • + attachment button | "Ask Ash anything..." placeholder | Black send button

Footer: 🛡️ "We keep your information safe and never share it with anyone."

Full flow now works end to end: Splash → Welcome → Role Select → Login → OTP → Home

Approve and I'll build Screen 7: Menu Drawer (slides in from left).

After this point, Figma Make started consuming significantly more AI credits per prompt without any clear explanation. Initially, each prompt used around 15 credits, then it increased to 20, 25, and later 30+ credits, even for simple prompts.

After that, the usage increased even further to 70+ credits per prompt, and eventually some responses consumed 200+ credits each. I couldn't understand why the credit usage increased so dramatically, especially when my prompts were similar in complexity.

Because of this unexpected increase in credit consumption, my entire 3,000 AI credits were exhausted much faster than I anticipated, and I was unable to continue working on my project.

Hey @ashutosh_0695, thanks for sharing these details and welcome to Figma Forum.

What you're describing, credits being consumed through multiple rounds of iteration, reflects how Figma Make credits works. Each prompt is a separate AI action, and retrying and refining impacts those interactions. This article in Figma Learn breaks down how consumption works, including credit range examples by task type: How AI credits work → AI credit consumption by feature.

On the refund and increased credit usage questions, we aren’t able to access and discuss billing details here. I went to check with our Product Support team and they received your request under this ticket number: 1996758. To help the team review your case, please share the relevant file by replying directly via email with:

  1. a link to the affected file
  2. make sure support-share@figma.com has view access.

With that, they can review your specific account and AI credit usage history.

Regarding your questions about optimization, Figma has published some resources that cover approaches to get more out of each prompt:

Please keep an eye on that ticket for specific updates. Appreciate your patience as we follow up and happy to help here if any questions remain!
