Question

About Figma Seats

Jeff_Pow

Hi everyone,

I need help from all of you as I don’t quite understand still on how the seat are works. Below are the reply from the support recently:

‘It's fine for you to move the file from team with email 1 to team with email 2 once it's been created, but again, please note that everyone with email 2 logging information will be able to manage everything in that account.

Again, I recommend that every user uses their own Figma account to collaborate on the files on your chosen team whether linked to email 1 or email 2. This is better for collaborating and also for security reasons.’

My reply after:

‘You meant:

1. Everything in email 2.

2. I create a team in email 2. All designs under this team.

3. I invite each of them with different Figma accounts (separate email addresses)

4. Everyone of them will view designs and accessing to Dev Mode under that team.

Ultimately, they would not able to manage anything besides viewing designs and Dev Mode only.

All yes?’

So, my question, are all true as per what I have described?

Hey @Jeff_Pow, thanks for reaching out! I understand how confusing seat management can be, and I appreciate you taking the time to clarify everything.

I took a look at your support ticket (#1280865), and it seems like the team has provided some guidance. Just to reiterate, account sharing isn't something we recommend, as it can lead to issues with file sharing, permissions, and account management. Because of this, our ability to assist in case of problems would be limited.

That said, if your developers only need to view designs, access Dev Mode, check spacing, measurements, property values, and copy code, they can do so with a free View seat—a paid Dev Mode seat wouldn’t be necessary in that case. If their needs go beyond that, a Dev seat would be required.

For more details on how seats work in Figma, you can check out this Help Center article: Manage seats in Figma.

Let me know if you have any questions—I’m happy to help clarify anything further!

Hi Gayani,

  1. Tested lots of scenarios yesterday. Free seat doesn’t have Dev Mode and CSS info available (as they said with CSS they could do things even better).
  2. The support team has helped to proceed the refund and plan cancellation yesterday.

Therefore, resolved.

Thank you very much.
