€627 invoice this month — massive "billing adjustment" for AI credits

Zeno Dal Maso

Hi everyone,

I want to share my situation because it mirrors patterns I've seen in other threads here, and I'd love to understand if others have experienced the same.

I've been on Figma's paid plan since mid-2025, paying a consistent €24.40/month for roughly 8 months. Then in March 2026 my invoice climbed to €57.86, and this month — April 2026 — I was hit with a €627.28 charge.

Here's the full breakdown:

  • 1 Full seat: €20.00
  • 15,000/mo AI credits: €351.00
  • Billing adjustments (AI credit updates): €143.16
  • Taxes: €113.12
  • Total: €627.28

I want to focus specifically on that €143.16 "billing adjustment", because I find it the most opaque part of this invoice. Figma describes it as "charges for updates made since your last invoice, prorated from the date of change"— but I have no idea what change triggered it, when it happened, or how the amount was calculated. There is no itemized breakdown, no date, no event I can trace it back to. It simply appears as a lump sum on top of an already unexpected €351 AI credits charge.

This is the core of my complaint: even if one accepts that AI credits were somehow activated (which I don't recall doing intentionally), the billing adjustment is a completely black-box charge. Users have no way to audit it, contest it, or even understand it. It could be anything.

From what I've read in other posts here, this is not an isolated issue:

  • Seats and add-ons being upgraded without explicit confirmation
  • Prorated "adjustment" charges appearing without clear explanation
  • Invoices jumping from ~€24 to hundreds of euros in a single cycle

My questions for the community and Figma team:

  1. Has anyone successfully obtained a refund or explanation for a billing adjustment charge like this?
  2. Is there anywhere in the billing UI that shows a detailed log of what triggered an adjustment and when?
  3. Why doesn't Figma send a proactive email warning before a charge increases by 25x?

Invoice number: [redacted by moderator to remove personal information] — April 24, 2026. I've already opened a support ticket but posting here for visibility.

Thanks

Hi @Zeno Dal Maso, welcome to Figma Forum, and thanks for laying this out. Your feedback on the billing experience is noted and I'll make sure it gets in front of the right team.

Regarding the charge — upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated for the remainder of your billing cycle, which can result in a larger-than-expected adjustment. This resource explains how that works: Manage AI credits → Can I purchase additional AI credits in the middle of my billing cycle?

I'm not able to access billing specifics from here, but I checked in and our Product Support team has responded to your case. Please check your inbox for their reply on case number: 1867674, as it'll have more details specific to your account.

I also removed some invoice details from your original post to protect your account security — appreciate your understanding on that.

Please let us know if any other questions come up. 🙏🏻
