So I tried to update my resume in figma (why not, if everything is in figma) and I have 2 page 1080X1398 simple text and nothing no image, or any kind of graphic and the file size is 3.5MB. I had a pdf resume with just 90KB file size. is there a way I can reduce the file size problem is there is no PDF compressor tools working, hardly reduce 30-40% of file size not more than that.
Hey
This is a known issue that our PDFs export very large. Figma has launched another update that allows you to choose between High, Medium, and Low quality when exporting to JPEG and PDF that may be helpful for you.
The default setting for PDFs is Medium quality but you can change the setting by clicking in the Export section of the right sidebar > then in Quality, select ‘Low’:

Also as a temporary solution, I can also recommend taking a look at our Community plugins such as TinyImage Compressor, or any external compression to see if that's something that can help you here.
Here are some additional information for the context:
- Our Help Center article: Export formats and settings
- A Forum topic with more context from our Figma team:
Hope this clarifies!
yes I’ve used the quality options but I don’t understand why are those options there, with all 3 options files size is the same.
Hmm that's sounds odd — you should typically see a difference in file size (and quality) between the different export options.
If you're not noticing any change, feel free to reach out to our support team here: Submit a bug report
Our support team can have a look at it. In the form, please use your Figma email account, and include the URL of the file (and give ‘can edit’ access to support-share@figma.com) or, the specific asset you're trying to export so they can take a closer look at what might be going on. Thanks!
Do not export using the built in PDF export tool!
Instead use a third party plugin like MKitFPdf that keeps text as text.
Before my Figma CV was 1.1mb - afterwards it was 29kb. And most sites could automatically read the content.
