Question

Figma is already in the Apps folder but it keeps on telling me to move it there

I downloaded the Figma app and placed it in the Applications folder. When I tried to open it, it prompted me to move it to the Applications folder. I tried moving it to other other folders, still the same. I also tried downloading the Figma app to the Downloads folder and then moving it to the Applications folder, but the issue persists.

Hi @Crystle, Thank you for reaching out! I understand your frustration. Could you please try the following steps to see if it resolves your issue?

  1. After installing the app, make sure to delete the installer file once you’ve moved the app to the Applications folder.
  2. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, try using Finder to move the Figma app to your Documents folder and then back to the Applications folder.
  3. Lastly, please restart your computer and try opening the app again from the Applications folder to see if it’s still behaving the same way.

If these steps don’t help, please delete the original download and try downloading the app again from here: Figma Downloads | Web Design App for Desktops & Mobile
In the meantime, if you need to keep working, you can access Figma web version: https://www.figma.com/files/

I hope this helps! If anyone in our community has any other suggestions, please feel free to share them here.

Thanks again for reaching out.

Hi @Junko3, I’ve done all three steps, but I still can’t install the Figma app. What should I do next?

Can you show that it’s actually placed in the Applications folder?

Here’s the link of the screen recording of what happens when I download the app: Screen Recording 2024-06-19 at 16.56.02.mov - Google Drive

You put the installer in the Applications folder, not the app itself.

  1. Drag the icon on the left to the icon on the right.

  1. Close this window.

  2. Eject the installer.

  3. Remove Figma.dmg from Applications

  4. Open Figma.app in Applications.
