Question

Having components with interaction as a property for prototyping

I’m fairly new to prototyping in Figma and I’m on a free account. I’ve been trying my hands at components so i can use different expanded cards with “dynamic” content. This works really well with text. So for each instance I create I can update that instance with its own custom text.

But I need to do the same, but instead with button links. I want to tell Figma that in expanded mode when the button becomes visible, that this button is a link to some page or overlay that I can decide on a per instance basis.

I can’t figure out how to do this since if I add an instance of the card, expand it, and then set a link for the button as an interaction. The next time I use the “app”, this interaction does work.

So, if I create an instance and make a link from the button to another page. This link will only work if I load the page initially with the card already expanded. It tends to otherwise “forget” that a link exists if collapsed when I launch the app.
