Question

Exporting an image doesn't allow me to rename it in the Mac Finder window and also includes folders when exporting

I’m not sure what is different between two Figma projects. In one, I’m able to export an image and rename it in the Mac Finder window. In another, when I’m doing the same steps, I don’t get an option to rename the export. Additionally when I export the image and hit save, it also inclues sub-folders from the Figma project. IE (animated/size/frame/image.png)

Any thoughts or suggestions here?

Hey @troy.starwalt , welcome to the community!
This is usually happens when you used ‘/’ symbols in the page name.
When these are used in page or layer names this will create individual folders when downloading. So, if you remove these from the page name the image will then download directly.

About the renaming, I am not sure why you couldn’t rename the export 🤔. If you are still having issues, I’d recommend you to reach out directly to the support team with a copy file and share it with support-share@figma.com as an Editor so they can try to replicate: here.
Please also include a video recording when you encounter your issue so we can better visualise it. Thank you!

Thank you Celine! The “/” symbol definitely caused that folder creation. Appreciate that callout. I’m still not able to rename our export, so I’ll email support as you suggested. Thanks again for the help.
