I'm trying to update my verification for the Figma Education Plan, but without success. I keep getting several error messages saying that the information provided is invalid.
My institution does not provide an institutional email, so I use my Gmail account. However, I have documents that prove my enrollment. After several attempts, I received a message stating, “We're unable to verify you using the information submitted. Please check your information for accuracy, and only use your own mobile device or computer.” I am unable to submit my request again.
Figma is saying to connect with SheerID, but SheerID is not responding.

At the moment, we don’t have a way to manually verify Education requests on our end. If you’re running into issues with your application, the best next step is to contact SheerID directly here, as they manage Figma’s verification process and can reset your ability to reapply. Please also note that SheerID may take up to 6 business days to reply.
I’ve also checked internally, and our Figma Education team is currently reviewing how cases without a school-issued email are handled with SheerID. We’ll share an update once things are clarified.

🚨UPDATE: Our Figma for Education team has reaffirmed with SheerID that schools that do not issue student or faculty emails are still eligible for our offer .
Since we partner with SheerID for all higher-education verification, we recommend trying to verify again through their platform. If you have any questions about your school's domain eligibility, their product support team will be the best contact to help clarify next steps.

I’m having the exact same problem and it’s been going on for weeks now.
SheerID keeps replying that they can’t approve my application because my university email isn’t working, and they keep sending me back to Figma. The issue is that it takes them days to respond each time, and I’m stuck in a loop with no progress at all and they keep writing me the same automatic emails:

Since your current email does not meet this requirement, the offer cannot be accessed. If you do have a school-issued email address, please resubmit your verification using that email, ensuring it matches your Figma account exactly.
If you do not have access to a .edu email, we recommend reaching out to Figma directly, as this eligibility policy is set and enforced by them.
As a third-party verification company, SheerID is geared toward handling the online verification process, and we partner with many retailers that have unique sets of guidelines for their exclusive offers. These guidelines are provided to SheerID to follow when verifying eligibility as securely and accurately as possible. As these guidelines are not set by SheerID, we are unable to provide exceptions or make alterations to them.

I’ve already attached my student ID and class schedule several times as proof, but nothing moves forward. Since Figma mentioned that schools without official student emails are still eligible, is there any real way to escalate this or have my documents reviewed manually?

As mentioned, our Figma for Education team has recently reaffirmed with SheerID that schools without official student or faculty email addresses are still eligible for the Education program. Since this update was just finalized, I’d recommend reaching out to SheerID’s support team once more and referencing this new confirmation from Figma. This should help them re-review your case under the updated criteria.
Unfortunately, Figma cannot review documents, confirm individual user eligibility or override SheerID’s process, but sharing this update with them should help move things forward faster.

Figma support also answered me in email and said they can’t do this so I don’t understand why sheer ID always tell me to reach out to Figma and Figma can’t do it, it’s like an endless loop for a month. I’m waiting for Sheer id to answer the problem it takes them a week to answer every time. do you have any way to help me? Some how or reaching sheer I’d and tell them? I really need it to be verified this week.
Yes, that’s a good step! I can see in the backend that you’re already in touch with the Figma Education team. I’d recommend continuing the conversation with them via your case for further clarification. They’re the best ones to guide you, as they work directly with SheerID (while I don’t have that access as a forum moderator).

I hear you, and our policy is as you shared– Figma requires a school email for all students at universities that issue school emails. If your university does not issue a school email, that is what SheerID is solely capable for resolving as it is their records that determine which domain is expected to be used at each school.
From what you shared, it sounds like your university does issue school emails, but yours is technically unavailable. That is not something Figma or SheerID can change.
However, if you are saying that the school emails issued by your university are on personal domains, like Gmail, anyway then this would be a circumstance where SheerID should review their domain records for your school and ensure that they reflect that information for students in your school.
We want you to be able to continue your studies using Figma, there just isn't a way for our team to manually verify your account. Figma sets the policy but all approvals or denials are handled by SheerID.
