Issues with Figma adding pixels to all sides or just some sides when an image is exported. This happens when exported as all file types, with the exception of SVG files. This issue creates a lot of unnecessary editing to the final product, especially when dealing with time sensitive projects.

Hi @Chris Wojcicki ,

I understand you're experiencing an issue where Figma adds extra pixels to one or more sides of an image when exporting.

We’re aware of a similar issue that can occur under the following conditions:

  1. The X or Y position of the image is set to a decimal value (e.g. X: 100.5)

  2. The image is exported using a non-integer multiplier (e.g. 0.8x), unless it’s positioned at (0,0)

If either of these applies, here are a few alternative solutions that may help:

  • Enable Snap to pixel grid to help keep objects aligned to integer values.

  • For case 1, ensure the image is placed at integer X and Y coordinates.

  • For case 2, try placing the image at the origin point (0,0) before exporting.

Our engineering team is actively tracking this issue, and I’ve escalated your case to them to help increase visibility.

While I know this isn’t ideal, we hope the above suggestions help ensure the correct export dimensions for now.

If these steps don’t apply or don’t resolve the issue, we’d recommend submitting a support request so our team can take a closer look: Submit a request

In the form, please include:

  • A quick screen recording showing the steps to reproduce the issue

  • The URL of the affected file

  • The exported image file from the video steps

Thanks!

Thank you @Junko3, I wish that applied to this. I’m working with whole numbers for X and Y positions as well as image/frame sizes with export values of 1X. Typically exporting JPG and PNG images. I have snap to pixel grid enabled as I did see that as a potential solution on other threads and reddit, but to no avail. The latest iteration of this issue has added 8 pixels on one side and 12 on another side.

Thank you again for the response and the solutions. I’ll forward along to the rest of my team as they have been experiencing similar issues.

Hi @Chris Wojcicki, thank you for sharing this additional information.

We’d love to investigate the issue you’re experiencing in more detail. When you have a moment, please consider submitting a request via the link I shared above.

We really appreciate your help!
