Taher Vohra

So here is what I am trying to do. I have mailer in which there is no change in the content but there is an image with a QR code. Now I have to add 10 different QR codes.

For that I am following below steps:

  1. Generate QR codes as PNG
  2. Add those PNG in an excel file, ensuring each image is paste in a cell (as per the guidelines)
  3. On Figma Buzz, in the bulk create I uploaded the file
  4. After uploading, it shows the column but content is been shown as text (Refer screenshot)
  5. When I select an image the data field remains disabled, but when I select a text layer it gets enabled and when I create assets it just adds text Object

I have tried the same with google sheets but facing the same issue.

Hi @Taher Vohra @AlexFabuel @Tidiane Bazile ,

Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention! Our product team confirmed this was indeed an unexpected behavior and has deployed a fix. The issue should now be resolved.

Could you please reload your tabs and try uploading again? I've tested this on my end and can confirm it's working normally now

If you're still experiencing any problems after reloading, please let me know.

Thanks for your feedback!

Toku

Would you be able to share the google sheets file with me for us to investigate? (azhong@figma.com). We were aware of the bug in Microsoft Excel and have addressed it with the update on last Friday. Can you try again and let us know if you are still experiencing it? Thanks!

@y_toku I am experiencing the same problem!

I have a simple layout, with ‘title’, ‘text’ and ‘image’, and a .csv with matching columns. In ‘bulk create’ I am able to map the two text fields, but when selecting the image, the option to map is disabled.

My image placeholder is a frame with a single image fill.

My target image is a direct url.

Any help much appreciated! Thanks!

Edit to add: I have also tried using an .xlsx file and get the same problem.

Another edit: I have found that if I insert the image in the cell in my google sheet, then export as a .xlsx this resolves the issue! So you have to insert the image into the spreadsheet rather than using a url.

Hi @melociraptor

Thanks for the update! Yeah, I should have clarified that image uploads are only supported in XLSX file types—if your data includes images, export it as an XLSX file before uploading it to Figma Buzz.

Thanks again!

Hi @TBoeson, thanks for letting us know that this still isn’t working for you.

What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far? If your data includes images, can you confirm that you’ve exported as an XLSX file before attempting to upload?

Has this ever worked correctly for you? Are you getting any error messages that you can share? With a few more details, I’ll flag this over to our Buzz team to investigate further.

ETA: SOLVED - I didn’t realize that I was needed to actually place the image in the cell. I figured it out. I was placing image path.

Thank you! I am trying this out for the first time today. I am allowed to select the copy no problems, but when I click my image, it will not allow me to select my image column. :( It’s greyed out. See screenshot below. I am using an xlxs and following your tutorial posted.

https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/31271824185623-Bulk-create-assets-in-Figma-Buzz#h_01JTHA32TKMGQ9YECW9STBFFWF

Agustín_Acevedo

Hi! I wanted to report that bulk uploading images through Buzz seems broken.

I had previously managed to upload images via an .xlsx (with images inserted in cells), and it worked fine. But now, even when following the same steps, Buzz only recognizes those columns as text (shows the “T” icon) instead of treating them as images.

Things I already tried, based on suggestions in the other thread:

  • Using .xlsx (not CSV).

  • Making sure images are in cells, not using =IMAGE() formulas.

  • Testing with direct .jpg / .png links.

  • Reducing the file to just 1 image column and <10 rows.

  • Exporting from Google Sheets and also generating .xlsx through scripts.

Nothing worked — Buzz always reads the image column as text. Since I was able to do this before, it feels like a regression.

Is anyone else still running into this? And could the team confirm if this is a known bug or if there’s a workaround?

Thanks!

Hey. @Agustín_Acevedo, thanks for following up about this issue!

You mentioned that this was previously working for you. When did you start seeing this issue happening again?
And just to confirm, you have added the images in cells then exported as an xlsx file before attempting to upload?

As shown in this thread above, our team was aware of a bug in Microsoft Excel, but they addressed it with an update in May. With a few more details, we can inform that team to investigate.

Hi, @djv Thanks for getting back to me.

Sure, just to clarify:

  • About 48 hours ago, after several failed attempts, I managed to get one file working. Since then, all attempts are still failing.

  • The images are definitely inserted correctly in cells (not formulas).

  • I’m not using Microsoft Excel — I’m exporting directly from Google Sheets to .xlsx and uploading that file into Buzz.

Hope this helps clarify the setup. Please let me know if you need me to share a sample file that reproduces the issue.

Hi! I have a similar problem. I'm trying to upload an XLSX file and it doesn't see the image fields at all. When I insert a CSV file, it does, but only as text. Picture in field L

Hey All, thanks for following up and for the additional context!

May I ask if your .xlsx  file is set to Internal mode? Others in the community noticed this was they case because of company policies, but if you switch to Public, it should solve that problem.
