Significant performance drops after selecting components in the design

Hi!

I’ve seen that similar issues have been discussed on this forum before, but this might be a slightly more unique case. When I’m working on our organization’s design system in the App UI design and I’m selecting a few very simple components, like a notification with just an icon and some content, I experience a significant drop in FPS and severe lag starts to occur. I’ve already tried recreating the component, deleting and rebuilding specific frames, etc., but nothing seems to help.

 

I’m not sure what this could be related to, but it definitely disrupts the workflow quite a bit.

When you reach out, it’ll be helpful to include:

  • A screen recording showing the issue

  • The design library file

  • Your desktop debug logs: Download Figma desktop app debug logs
    Shortcut:

    • Mac: Control + Option + Shift + D

    • Windows: Alt + Ctrl + Shift + D

With this info, the team can investigate what’s causing the performance drop.

I’d like to get more information to help get this sorted for you. A few things that would help narrow it down:

  • Are you experiencing this in the desktop app, browser, or both?
  • When did you first notice the FPS drop—has this been a recent issue?
  • Does this happen in just one specific file, or does it occur across multiple files?
  • How often does this issue happen?
  • Can you try restarting the app (or refreshing the tab if using the browser) and check if performance then improves?

If possible please also share your file link here with support-share@figma.com invited directly as an editor (this won't affect your billing at all).

Let me know what you find, and we’ll figure this out together!

Hi Gayani,

  • I experience the issue in Desktop app & Browser
  • Yes it is a recent issue and it happens with certaint components
  • Yes, I’m taking about specific file - design library
  • Always
  • I did multiple attempts for restarting, recreating component etc. Still I experience this issue with fps drop.
