Subject: Issue with Component Property Editing in the Insert Dialogue
Description: I’ve encountered an inconsistency when using components in Figma, particularly when trying to edit their properties directly from the insert dialogue under the Assets panel. Here's the exact scenario:
-
I created a button component using Auto Layout that contains an icon and text.
-
I set up properties for this component to allow swapping the icon and editing the text.
-
When I go to another page and attempt to insert an instance of this component from the Assets panel, I see the option to insert it. However, the insert dialogue does not offer me the ability to change the text or swap the icon directly before inserting the instance.
-
After inserting the instance on the canvas, I can adjust the properties as expected, but my goal is to make these changes at the point of insertion.
This issue is not unique to me—my entire class is experiencing the same behavior except for our teacher. On the teacher’s account, the insert dialogue presents the ability to change these properties (e.g., swap the icon or edit the text) before the instance is placed on the canvas.
