Question

Hovers on interactive components are malfunctioning and rendering oddly

Cecily

Hovers on interactive components are malfunctioning in the prototype and present modes in a few different ways:

  • Rendering text oddly, letters are getting jumbled
  • Filling in areas with color
  • Seemingly disappearing from view

Can confirm it’s happening on my end too. Rebuilt the buttons from scratch and still the same.

Diego_Moliterno

I can confirm the same is happening on my end with interactive components.

Rick_Vlaha

Same here. Glad I’m not crazy. My interactive components have been functioning flawlessly for days, but suddenly went haywire. Same bug across multiple browsers, Figma Mirror iOS app as well as MacOS desktop app.

Jun_Rey_Ellezo

Having the same issue.

Matt_Birtch

Having similar problems here too. Just noticed it in the last few hours. It’s making me crazy! Earlier today, I wasn’t having the same problems

Hey folks - thanks for the reports. This looks very serious - we’re looking into it.

Camilo_Bolivar

Having similar problems. All interactive components in all my files are not working well.

Andrew_Chan
Figmate

Hey all - this should now be fixed. If you refresh and the problem persists, please let me know. Thanks for being patient.

Chris_Kerr

@Andrew_Chan It’s certainly much better, the hover issue is gone. Thanks to the team for jumping on this so quickly!

I’m finding that click interactions aren’t registering until maybe the third or forth click. Not sure if it’s related or not, but it wasn’t happening on the same prototype as it was yesterday.

That seems unrelated, but also a bug. If you can consistently reproduce this, do you mind sharing a link to the file with me via DM? You can make sure I have access by inviting me at achan@figma.com. A video of the issue occurring would also be very helpful.

Thank you kindly!! Can confirm things are working normally on my end.

@Andrew_Chan I have an issue with nested hover states getting “stuck” ie. a button inside a table row, both with a hover transition, if you hover both then frequently the button gets stuck in the hover state (top level row doesn’t seem to get stuck). Possibly related to this bug?

Candace_Choi

Same problem almost a year later… hover state in interactive component gets stuck and I have to use a workaround like linking the hover state back to the original state using the “mouse leaves” interaction which I’ve never used before.

I view community-cloned button prototypes that were built the same way and they still seem to work fine. All of a sudden just all of my hover states stopped working across my entire design system and i’ve had to go back and fix every little atom 😦

Same issue here, loosing the hover on some random variants. is there… but all of a sudden stops working

balan_tiberiu

Hi, I have a similar issue here, it seems the hover interaction doesn’t work at all, I can only do the trick with → Mouse enter + mouse leave.
Does anyone knw a fix to this?
Thanks.

Hugo_Figueira

Same issue here. When using “while hovering”, the components somehow get into this crazy state, where some elements have different colors and get stuck into some weird state. Please fix it, @Figma_Support 🥺

Edit 1: added a video to this post. There you can see that the icons are keeping a blue color after the hovering, but shouldn’t.

Edit 2: this happens in nested components. The icons are components, coming from a shared library, and the list items are local components, (and part of a major component).

Hello @Andrew_Chan , I have a very unusual problem with what is hover, this problem has already seen some time ago but I thought it was my component configuration and now I see that the error continues, this is driving me crazy, and I sent you an invitation to my project in figma to your email achan@figma.com, just in case here I send you the link: https://www.figma.com/file/9LsSKYOntDG7r2Pfy0Xgkb/hover-problem?node-id=0%3A1

Salomon_Onyegbulem

I’m also having a very similar bug where hover interactions aren’t working properly.
Checkout this prototype; Notice that the hover states on the tiles at the bottom have different font styles applied to their titles, that’s the issue.

James_Mckernan

I have the same issue did you ever fix it?

Hugo_Figueira

Not really. It’s still happening in other pages of my mockup, but that particular one is still occurring. Not sure it’s because those are composed by nested components, but I couldn’t find a proper workaround (yet).

I’m experiencing this issue on a nested component. I’m surprised this issue still has not been fixed.

Did anyone find a workaround?

Reporting the same issue.

Also, when hovering my button color is flickering back and forth between default and hover states.

Clemencizm

I have the same issue with nested component.
I found out that:

  • when you select the component and remove the interactions out of it, it will anyway keeps the interaction of the “parent” or “native” one.
Then, there’s no conflict anymore. So for instance the hover comes back to default. It is not stuck the hover anymore.

  • The conflict can also come from a nested component that I had, on top of everything customised (overwriting text). By reseting it it worked properly again.

Unfortunately, I am not able to share screenshot because I resolved those issues yesterday and forgot to do so. Today I am not able to replicate them.
I still haven’t identified when doing what. But one or the other worked for me.

I hope that helps
Clémence

Karl_Roche1

Same here. Nested interactions are becoming very hard to use and get right.

Romain_Mascia1

Same issue here with nested instances. If the master component has some variant interactions and I add extra interactions on the instances and run the prototype it breaks. Sometimes the instances are visually reset to master (when running the prototype) and sometimes the interactions are skipped/misplaced…

This is forcing me to work like I would have to 10 years ago before advanced prototyping tools hit the market…
