Bug with Variables panel - Pasting content into the design

Lucas_Orellanos

When I have the local variables panel open and I try to copy the value of one of them and paste it into a text that is part of the design, the combination of Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V does not work.
However, it does copy the content, because I can paste it into another application, but Figma.

Hi there,

Thanks for pointing this out. I think you can use Ctrl+C with the local variable panel open, but Ctrl+V doesn’t work. As a workaround, you can right-click and select “Paste” to paste onto the canvas.

Our internal team is aware of the issue, but we can’t guarantee when it will be fixed.

Please let me merge this into the existing topic so we can track it together.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hello everyone,
Since the last Figma update, I can no longer copy the text of variables (such as color codes) and paste them elsewhere on the page while keeping the variables panel open at the same time. I have to close the panel if I want to paste the text. As far as I’m concerned, this is a bug.

Thanks for your future replies.

I’ll merge this into the existing topic so we can track it together.

When I open the local variable page, I can’t copy text from the UI. It seems like ctrl+c doesn’t work. I can’t copy.

Hi all @Lucas_Orellanos @DBeguin @Runz

Thanks for flagging this issue. Our engineering team has fixed it. Could you try reloading the tab and then copying and pasting something with the variables panel open? It works on my end now.

I hope this resolves the issue, but please feel free to let me know if it persists!

Thanks,
Toku
