A colleague has been complaining for a few months that Figma has been lagging much more than usual. This had already been an issue with some of our larger files, especially since he works on Windows while I use a MacBook, but I hadn’t noticed any changes on my end.
However, since a recent update, I’ve started experiencing severe lag myself when selecting multiple pages at once or simply multiple components. It has become unbearable to try and organize designs or make bulk edits. The problem seems to have started with the introduction of AI features in the app. My colleague had early access to these features, and the timing appears to correlate with the lag increase.
On top of that, many elements in my designs have been breaking for no apparent reason:
- Frames set to “Fill width” appearing as “Hug,” though this seems to be a visual glitch only.
- The ability to apply multiple text styles in a single text layer is broken; underlining, strikethrough, color changes, font type, and weight adjustments don’t all work consistently. This is especially problematic for text layers inside components, where the style won’t update at all sometimes.
- Auto-layout alignment changing by itself (??)
- And various other one-off oddities that have been piling up and becoming increasingly frustrating.
You guys have been rolling out new features at an impressive pace, and some have been really useful, but maybe the focus should shift toward fixing these widespread issues instead of tweaking the colors of stickies in FigJam.
