Option to hide the right panel

DNLBTLR

Figma currently offers a keyboard shortcut to hide the layers panel (CMD + SHIFT + \ ) or all UI (CMD + \ ) but no keyboard support to just hide the right panel (Design, Prototype, Inspect)
For me the layers panel can often be more important to retain than the right panel.
Anyone else want this feature?

From my perspective, having the option hide both sidebars and enter a “Full View” for the page and its elements would be helpful.

The “Full View”, with no sidebars, option would enable having to look at the page layout to see all the location of elements, including the outlines for elements that were added and not intended as part of the design.

Do you mean hide UI?

Hello Gleb!

The “Show/Hide UI” shortcut is an appropriate solution for me.

I can see full screen width view of the canvas without the sidebars.

I have to ensure I set the page zoom before removing the sidebars.

Thank you.

Maybe you can hit N and Shift N if you want to navigate between frames.

K-Frica_Digitals

The best solution to that is "Crtl +\ " for windows, it will hide both your left and right panels 🙂

This option would be great @DNLBTLR. I just shared an other suggestion about Show/hide UI command. Maybe it’s helpful for you too. Suggestion: Hide UI without hiding share button and avatars

My reply was not to your original topic but to the comment in it.

Where is this? On your screenshot, I can’t see from where you opened this dropdown.

Right click on empty canvas.

oh yeah that would be neat!
Maybe even going a step further, showing it only as long as I hold down a button. So I could quickly make some adjustments, then let go again. Especially useful on smaller screens

Luca_Caprio1

Yes please!!

Nicole_Emenhiser

I’m definitely all for this exact solution. Being able to hide the UI as a whole or the left sidebar are both nice, but not a solution to this specific ask.

Emily_Holcomb

Yes, right only! I don’t work with the properties often (PM), but I swap between pages and click into layers often. The right panel is so wide and makes it a very small window to view when I need to split screen to do something in my PM tool while looking at Figma.

Bob_Le_Schoenthal1

Exactly what I needed. Couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working, but then found 1Password defaults this to its autofill. Turned changed this in 1Password and it works now. So if you try this and it doesn’t work - the shortcut might have gotten taken by a different program. 😉

Nearly three years later, and this still needs to be implemented? Like many of you, I’m sure, I design my components and then assemble them into layouts. At this point, I rarely need to touch the Properties panel, so I would love the option to hide it.

Hey @Shmu, thanks for following up!

In UI3, you can now minimize the UI from the navigation panel, which will hide the right panel. By clicking Minimize UI, it collapses both the navigation panel and properties panel:

If you select something on the canvas with the UI minimized, the properties panel temporarily opens back up, so you can access each property’s controls. More info about what’s new in UI3 is available here:

Thanks @dvaliao! But the minimize ui hides all the panels, both left and right, is that correct? I just want to hide the right side.

Hey @Shmu, yes - that is correct.

There is currently no way to hide only one side in UI3, but we’ll pass this feedback onto the team for future consideration.
