BUG: Figma slides blocks actions with comment view

When using comment view on Figma slides, I cannot do mostly any other action in the slides like copying, pasting and even skiping/unskipping slides. All of this while not getting feedback from this. I even had some difficulty understanding that was happening because of comment mode. I tought the whole app had frozen.

I’m using the native app on a mac if this helps.

Hey @Kaue_Lima, thank you for reaching out!

Just to clarify do you have can view access on the slide? If so then this is an expected behaviour.
People with can view access can see existing objects in the slide deck, but can’t edit or add objects. They can also present slide decks and use multiplayer features like comments, cursor chat, and spotlight.

If this is not your case, can you show a screen recording on what you’re seeing on your end?

It happens with all permission levels as far as I tested. The issue is not with objects itself in the slide (since I’m on the comment mode the cursor feedback is enough for users to understand they will not be able to select and modify objects) but with the actions on the slides itself.

I think this recording clarifies a little bit more, but let me know if you need anything else!

Hey @Kaue_Lima, thank you for sharing a screen recording with me!
I am able to reproduce this on my end. However, I am not sure if this an expected behaviour. Let me ask the team internally and share your feedback with them.

Will get back to your asap, than you for your patience in the meantime.

I think the main issue here is with user feedback. Since some of the context menu options are hidden but those are not, I expected them to work. If they did not work they should also be hidden from the context menu like “duplicate” for an example.

Anyways even hiding those, there should be a clear feedback when trying to copy/paste via hotkey as well (cmd/ctrl+c cmd/ctrl+v) or it still looks like a bug.

Thanks and have a great friday 🙂

Appreciate your feedback @Kaue_Lima!

The team has confirmed that this does seem to be expected behaviour. However, they’ve acknowledged your feedback. I’ll pass your additional feedback to the team internally as well!
