FIX LAUNCHED: Issues renaming/highlighting text in the layers panel

I can rename a layer but I cant highlight parts of text when doing so.

Also usually when I click to a different layer, the rename is set… but now it stays editable until I press Esc

Happening across web and app.

Same issue. It’s problematic. Windows 11. Desktop APP.

Video: Monosnap

The main thing is not to open files from other accounts, this glitch is transmitted across accounts.

When I double click an item to rename, it stays highlighted. I can no longer click the mouse to the end or anywhere inside the name to edit. I can retype but then have to press ENTER to keep it. This used to work. It DOES work on the PAGES up top. The click/select mouse function works different on PAGES and LAYERS for some reason. This is a new thing. I closed out Figma and reopened but still does it. It does the same in other files.

I have the same issue right now and only started a couple of hours ago… desktop version, windows 11.

Same as OP, I used to be able to ctrl + r the layer or double the layer name and click on the name again in order to select only a part of the name, but now I can only double click and when highlighted, my cursor does nothing when I click or click and drag.

This JUST started happening to me a few hours ago and its driving me NUTS.

I used to be able to ‘CTRL + R’ a layer name then double click in order to highlight only a part of the total layer name. Now I don’t even see the ’ I ’ cursor anymore and need to use the arrow keys in order to navigate through the name with the marker.

I have the same issue, Windows App. Started two days ago for me.

Hi hi, I encounter an issue, I am not able to use touchpad or mouse to move cursor after clicking “Rename”, the all texts are be selected. I only can move cursor by keyboard “:arrow_left:”“:arrow_right:”. I am not sure if it is a bug.
Does anyone have same issue? Or is there a way to fix this one? Please let me know if there is a such. All the best to everyone~

I have the exact same issue! only started yesterday and its super annoying!

Same here. It has happened since yesterday afternoon.

Yeah! How can that problem pop up while your working? It wasn’t an install that broke it. Such a weird one. How does it break on LAYERS only? Ugh…

Yep, seeing the same issue on MacOS 14.5 and Figma 124.3.1

After the latest update, 124.3.1, when I’m editing component names, mouse clicking or trackpad clicking to get the cursor fails, even after restarting Figma, and after a fresh restart of the machine (MacBook Pro 2019 2.6GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7, Mac OS Sonoma 14.6.1).

So, to the get cursor I have to use the arrow keys, instead of being able to point and click.

Previously mouse/trackpad clicking worked as per the usual on the same machine.

Is anyone else experiencing the same?

If so, is there an immediate fix, or will Figma have to fix in the next rollout?

When first clicked into the name.

I would post a bug report.

There are many people asking the community about the same issue. But none reporting it as a bug.

I too am having an awful tijme selecting and managing layer naming now.

Happening to me as well!

Hey All, thanks again for your patience and understanding!

The team launched a fix for this bug. If you fully refresh Figma, things should now be working again as expected.

What a response time. Just about rivals F1 pit stops.

Thank you Figma Team.
