Hello everyone, I have been using the website version of Figma for a while, and there was an issue with the fonts. The same fonts that were working a few days ago are not working now. But the main thing is that the same font is working with the Desktop app.
When I log in from both the Website and Desktop app, downloaded fonts work properly in the Desktop App version whereas it doesn’t work on the Website once.
Hey @Sameer2 ,
Thanks for reaching out about this! You’ll see this warning when you need to Manage Missing Fonts.
As stated there the most common reasons for missing fonts are:
- Missing installed fonts: collaborators are using a local font, which you don’t have installed.
- Conflicting versions: collaborators are using a different (older or newer) version of the font.
- Missing font styles: Either the style was missing from a download, or you are using a different version of the font which doesn’t include that weight or style.
If you have this font already installed on your computer, you’ll need to either use our Desktop App or follow the instructions to Access local fonts on your computer to use local fonts in the browser.
(If you use Figma in your web browser, you need to install the Figma installer, otherwise known as the font helper, before you can add your own font to Figma design files here)
If you’ve followed these instructions and are using the Desktop App, or seeing the notification that Local Fonts are enabled on your Figma account settings in the browser, then it’s possible that the font you have installed is not the same version as the one used in the File. To resolve this, we suggest you ask the File’s creator to send over the Font version used to create the File. Once you install this version, you’ll need to restart Figma to serve that version.
Alternately, if you want to use the version stored on your computer you can to select the correct weight in the toggle of that Missing Fonts warning menu. Please note this changes the font version for all editors on the File and so can generate the same error for any other editors who have a different version installed.
Alternatively, if this is a file within an Organization, you can ask all team members to delete their local font versions and ask an organization admin to upload the font files as shared fonts. You can read about that feature in our Help Center: Manage fonts in an organization.
Hope this helps!
Hello,
I am not sure if the issue was successfully resolved or not. We are facing exactly the same issue. We are forced to use the WEB version due to some internal (IT security) limitations set by our company. Fonts were working fine few weeks ago and when I tried to make some text changes in the existing project, suddenly the “missing fonts” warning popped-up.
We previously made it work through the Figma Agent but it does help anymore. I have also checked that the fonts are properly installed on my PC, but they the web app does not see them (it looks the same as it did before we got the Figma agent working). There was also no change in the versions of the fonts.
And I repeat again, that unfortunately using the desktop app is not a viable solution for us.
I can see that it might be a recurring problem, so hopefully there is some easy solution for that.
Thank you for your help.
Hey @Kuba_Horacek , sorry to hear you are still having issues.
If these workarounds don’t help, please reach out directly to the support team by filling this form: here
Our team can have a deeper look at your case to investigate the root cause of your issue.
Please use your Figma account email, mention the steps you have done and, include a link to the affected file, and add support-share@figma.com as an Editor, so they can take a closer look.
Hello @Celine_Figma,
We were able to resolve the issue (for now) by getting a new version of the Figma agent from the website (from previous 124.1.x to the current 124.2.9.0). Honestly, if it was really the cause, then the fact that there was some update which suddenly resulted in the web app to stop working without any disclosure of the reason, I find it quite troubling. It is not a standard practice to be forced to download a new installer every version and do a fresh install, to make something work again.
Hopefully it will help others that got into the same situation as us and that the situation won’t be happening again.
Thanks.
Kuba
I also have this issue in the web app after getting the new Figma UI. My font awesome pro fonts stoped working and I have tried several times to use the installer for local fonts which says that it should work. And I know for certain that I have the font installed on my computer and have used it without issues in the desktop app. What could be the issue? Using the desktop version isn’t an option unfortunately since it has gotten very slow after the new UI-update.
I’ve done some more testing and can conclude that my local fonts work on the desktop app (Mac) but not in the browser if I use Safari, no matter how many times I download and install the font app from Figma. However, if I open Figma in Chrome then the local fonts work.
Hey @Henrik_Asteberg appreciate the follow-up details from your experience with this! I see that you may have a support ticket filed regarding something separate – is that correct?
If so, would you be okay with me adding the the report you have here to that ticket, so they can be looked at in tandem?
