The web version must turn off Use hardware acceleration when available on the chrome browser to be able to use it. and the desktop version has an error message "Uh oh… we can’t open that file
We can’t open this file because we’re having trouble with WebGL. Please try restarting the desktop app.
If this problem persists, your graphics card or driver may not be supported."
Hi there, Thanks for reaching out to the community!
You will see that error when something on your browser or network is blocking use of WegGL, which Figma needs access to work.
To help us take a closer look, could you please confirm below?:
Do you see the WebGL error when you edit the same file in the web browser? Please also check that you are using the latest version of the browser or desktop app.
Can you go to https://get.webgl.org/ in a supported browser and check if you see a spinning cube?
Can you confirm the device and operating system that you are working on and check that your graphics driver is updated to the latest version?
If your hardware has multiple graphics cards, please make sure that all graphics cards are updated.
You can find system requirements details here: Guide to the Figma desktop app
In the meantime, one workaround might be to use the Figma web app in a WebGL supported browser (e.g. Chrome), if you use Figma on Chrome browser, please enable [Use hardware acceleration when available].
