Support OKLab and OKLCH

It’s simply confounding and frustrating why Figma is holding back designers from being up to date with the forefront of web design and accessiblity. Our team has long converted all our prior color palettes over to OKLCH and having to generate new ones outside of Figma, taking advantage of the wider range and perceptual consistency beyond the limitations of RGB models. Yet we’re unable to generate mockups or export designs or code from Figma that accurately represent this.

We’re now over 2 years since Chrome and Firefox, and 3 years since Safari rolled out compatibility. At this point Adobe Creative Suite is starting to finally integrate partial support before Figma, which seems a bit embarrassing for a design tool that was once thought of as more evolutionary.

For 3 years people have requested this across multiple threads, but the only official response here is ‘appreciate the feedback’ yet nothing concrete of any intentions. Are there any?

Bumping this. If Tailwind is defining colors via oklch, that makes it pretty much industry standard for UI design. Oklch also enables some really nice accessibility perks, which will be super apparent with the new color contrast visualizer on the color picker.

Bump - been asking since last 3 years, but it’s probably high time OKLCH gets done, with support for CSS color 4/5 manipulation support in variables, but that’s another story.

Bump, an UI “design” app like Figma should have this by now

Figma should DEFINITIVELY have this now, as recently it has become the Tailwind default for web development, and Tailwind holds a huge part of the modern front-end development nowadays.
Before this was more like a “would like to have” than a “need to have” as it is now.

Another bump.

Perceptual colour models are important for creating properly accessible colour schemes so it would be great if you could support this natively (i.e. not via a plugin).

Would love to see native support for OKLCH after watching today’s talk at Config 2025 by Irina and Arthur from Evil Martians. Hoping this gets to Figma soon!

Absolutely essential. Using another app to actually manage colors, and then importing a converted value to Figma, is a very limiting workflow.
