Issue with Opacity in Figma Variables

In Figma, I can create a color variable like Primary/500,
but there's no way to create another variable that links to Primary/500 with just a different opacity (e.g., 50%).

This becomes a problem when I change the base color — I have to manually update every opacity variation, which is time-consuming and breaks the idea of dynamic design systems.

🔧 Feature Request:
Allow opacity to be applied on top of existing variables when creating new ones.

Thank you for this! I was just about to post the same request.
I am working with design systems a lot. I am using Material Design color system and I have 112 state variables with opacity, (66 multiplied by 2 for light and dark mode, god forbid I have more modes) and whenever I change the base tones I have to manually input each hex code since Figma doesn’t allow using opacity on existing variables. It’s such a hassle and time consuming.
