Please release an official version for the LINUX operating system because the version on github is unstable and outdated.

Please think of your Linux users.

Why does Figma need a Linux desktop app? Because Google Drive taught us what happens when you don’t.

For years, Drive ignored Linux users. It alienated developers, lost community-driven innovation, and gave competitors room to thrive. Figma risks the same.

  • Developers live on Linux. They build the plugins, integrations, and workflows that make Figma powerful.

  • Web-only ≠ professional. Offline access, drag‑drop assets, and CI/CD integration demand a native client.

  • Open-source rivals are catching up. Penpot and others are winning because they respect Linux from day one.

If Figma wants to stay the hub of collaborative design, it must treat Linux users as equal-class citizens.

Hi Figma team,

A request on behalf of several developers out there who use Linux as their primary development environment.

Currently, the MCP (Multi-Context Preview) feature is locked behind the Figma desktop app, which is only available for macOS and Windows. This poses a challenge for Linux developers who are unable to access or use MCP due to the lack of a supported desktop app.

We’d love to see one of the following:

  1. A Linux version of the Figma desktop app to unlock parity across development environments.

  2. An alternative way to run an MCP server without the desktop app, such as a standalone CLI or server binary that can be installed independently.

This would greatly improve the development experience and make Figma’s workflow more accessible to cross-platform teams.

Thanks for considering this request!

RELEASE THE FUCKING FIGMA APP LINUX

I’ve mostly moved over to Linux from macOS and know more designers doing the same. It would be great to have official support rather than using hacked together electron packages. Thanks.

I’m moving from Win10 to Mint and 100% need a native desktop version. Get on it, please!

Why doesn’t Figma have an official Linux desktop app? I know I can use Figma in the browser, but for third-party fonts, I need to install the Figma font helper, which is difficult to run with Wine or Bottle on Linux. Is there any chance of an official Linux version being released?

Is there any chance of an official Linux version being released?

Probably not in the near future

What is the point of the Figma MCP Server if the devs on the team can’t use it? 66% of our dev team use linux and need to use Figma Web and do not have access to Figma MCP. We are super excited for it, but can’t use it. Either let us host the MCP Server online, or release Figma Linux.

Any status update for a Figma for Linux release finally? Anything, anyone?
