I’ve made a free tool recently,

it records your prototypes with the highest quality, using Playwright.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Hello,

I’d like to share an idea and suggestion as a long-time enterprise customer from Korea, in Asia. And a heavy user of Figma in my daily design workflow. I truly love Figma and find it incredibly convenient and powerful.

However, there’s one long-standing issue that has been inconvenient for me, and I wanted to finally share my feedback. I’ve always assumed the Figma team would eventually add this feature, but since it hasn’t been implemented yet, I decided to send my thoughts directly.

The feature I’m referring to is the ability to record prototypes directly within Figma.
Currently, there’s no native recording option, so I have to use my laptop’s built-in screen recording tools and manually adjust the recording frame. As a result, I often have to record on high-resolution monitors to maintain quality, and manual framing sometimes causes the prototype to be cut off or include unwanted parts of the screen.

Now this feature is missing, I often find myself debating whether I should use ‘Protopie’ service instead when showcasing or testing prototypes. I sincerely hope the team will consider adding a built-in prototype recording feature.

+) Additionally, I’d like to mention another concern.
In the past year, Figma introduced a feature that lets you see who has viewed your file (named ‘Previously viewed’). While I understand the intention, I personally find it quite uncomfortable. I initially thought it was an A/B test that would soon be removed, but it seems to have become permanent. This feature has unintentionally raised barriers between teams and organizations, making it harder to freely reference and learn from others’ files. As someone who values open learning and creative exchange, I’d like to gently express my hope that this feature could be reconsidered or made optional.

Thank you always for creating such a great product and for your fast, thoughtful updates.

Warm regards, Jayoung.

Replying here because, FOUR years later, there is still no native solution to such a useful feature, once again today I was reminded how hard it is to simply export an animated prototype interaction to any video format, or a GIF even, without having to pay for another product's subscription.

Hey everyone 👋

I'm one of the contributors to Export to GIF/Video, and wanted to share some updates we've just shipped that address some of the pain points raised here.

  • Audio Support — Export audio from video fills, or add your own audio tracks with a waveform editor for trimming, positioning, and fade effects.
  • Transparent Background Export — Alpha channel support for WebM (VP9) and MOV (H.265), with code snippets for cross-browser implementation.
  • Faster Export — Up to 80% faster export times, instant preview with timeline scrubbing, and bulk export for multiple flows at once.
  • Transition Sidebar — See and edit every transition in your flow from one panel with real-time preview updates.
  • Quality of Life — Video fills save across sessions, custom GIF loop count (1-10 or infinite), and option to replace transparent pixels with any solid color.

We're at about 290k installs and the plugin is free for basic use (smaller GIFs), with Pro plan priced at $17-29/mo. Happy to hear any feedback.
