I would like to be able to selected multiple child components which are all associated with the same parent component and edit their shared nested instance properties across all selected child components.

Why can you not adjust the nested instance props of multiple instances of the same component at once? This limitation forces you select the nested instance in each component to make changes. Very frustrating bc it seems like this should be extremely simple change – just surface nested instance props when multiple components are selected. @figma pls
Hey All, thanks for the feedback!
We’ll pass this onto the team for future consideration. Don’t forget to also vote up top! ☝️

I thought this used to work but maybe I imagined it. Not only do I need to go one by one to change nested props I also need to expand the nested props each time which adds a lot of overhead vs being able to select many all together and updating in bulk.
I’m surprised there are not more votes on this.
+1 , much needed.
Hi Figma Team,
I frequently work with nested components, and one major limitation I’ve encountered is the inability to edit nested component properties when selecting multiple components at once. Even when the nested components share the same properties, I still have to edit each instance individually, which can be time-consuming and disrupts the workflow.
It would be incredibly helpful if we could modify shared nested properties across multiple selected components at the same time—just like we can with top-level variants and properties. This would significantly improve efficiency, especially when working with large design systems.
I’d love to see this feature in a future update! Hoping the team considers it, and I’m sure many other designers would find it useful too.
I agree with all above, I created design system, where I need to use nested properties in instances and it seems I will have to create variants of each possible instance to do work smoothly.
Agree with
In my example, I have a card component that gets nested in a card stack (multiple cards). As the card component features an image where I can change the aspect ratio (1:1, 2:3 and 3:2). With a card stack of 6 cards I now need to expose the image aspect ratio property and then individually change the prop in each card. This is not only time consuming, but it’s also risky for the design system consumers, since they may use a mixed aspect ratio when we don’t want to allow this. The alternative to expose the nested property is to create variances of the card stack for each of the 3 aspect ratios, which sounds rather silly.
Hi! I have the same problem and it’s soooo cumbersome to multi edit nested instances props, when you have like 20 screens to update, and you have to go one-by-one repeating multiple steps 🥲
I made a visual example to help devs understand the problem better, the video is in the archive attached. Somehow this Reply section doesn’t allow attaching .mp4 files 😔
This would be a very welcome feature. I’d have use for it regularly. For anyone looking for this, I’d like to add that, until this is supported by Figma natively, there’s this plugin called ‘Selection Variants’ by Gleb that I think helps accomplish the task quite effectively:
