Hi Figma dev team,

When selecting fonts, it used to be that you could just copy the font name and paste it into the search field. Now, you have to type the font name manually to choose a font. Can you bring back the copy-and-paste feature? That would make changing or selecting fonts much easier.

Thanks.

Hey there, thanks for the feedback!

Just to ensure I understand correctly, are you trying to copy the text value of a font? As shown is this example below, are you trying to copy “Inter” on the right?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I used to be able to copy the text value of a font (like ‘Inter’ in the attached screenshot). Then, if I wanted to change a font to ‘Inter’, I would select a font and paste ‘Inter’ into the ‘Search fonts’ field instead of typing it out.

Thanks for clarifying!

I can confirm that it’s not currently possible to copy the text value, but I’ll pass this onto our team to investigate to see if this was a recent regression.

Hey @Anai_Taka_Taka_CSD, thanks for your patience!

I checked with the team, and they confirmed that this capability was removed when we launched Font picker on-canvas previews last Fall.

While you can’t copy the font from the right, you can still copy + paste the font from within the open window. Just click on the font name, use ⌘C or Ctrl+C to copy, then use ⌘V or Ctrl+V to paste.

Hey @dvaliao

As per your instructions, I tried to copy the font name “Inter” (as you can see in the screenshot). However, when I clicked the font name and tried to copy it, the open “Fonts” window just closed and didn’t copy the font name.

Could you please instruct me again on how to do this correctly?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for flagging this, @Anai_Taka_Taka_CSD!

It looks like this isn’t working anymore. 😦 I’ll send this over to the team to investigate.

Hey @Anai_Taka_Taka_CSD, thanks for your patience!

Our team just launched a fix for this. Please refresh and let us know if you have any further issues.

Hey @dvaliao

It works now!

Thanks again for helping me out.

Much appreciated!

So happy to hear that, @Anai_Taka_Taka_CSD!

You’re welcome! 🙂
