UI3 Ruins Efficiency - Spoken from a long-time user

Thomas_B_

First of all, STOP hiding important values like dimensions from me in place of an auto layout value. This is the biggest annoyance I have with the new design. It’s like you tried to simply things, but now the whole UI feels more cluttered and busier than ever.

The fact, I have to stop concentrating on what Im working on and move my mouse all the way to the side panel, and then PRECISELY hover a tiny rectangle to get a fundamental dimension, is so unpolished as an interaction. Don’t hide dimension values!!!

Not only hiding tools behind more clicks , now assets are behind a bigger mess than it was prior. Seriously, for a software dedicated to designing for UX … you would think the UX in the software would be an example of efficient.

Now my whole workflow is riddled with micro friction clicking, God all the clicking drill downs are obnoxious! And the visual noise doesn’t help focus at all.

No, i don’t want keyboard shortcuts, my fingers are half the length of Spock’s. I can’t just spock my way to an autoframe.

Totally agreed, it’s really infuriating me that the tools bar are moved to the bottom and out of context with the tabs, name of the file, prototype controls etc. I have to keep moving my eyes between top and bottom of the screen. How they think this is an improvement to usability and effectiveness of the UI is beyond me. Also having a floating tool bar isn’t a better use of space within the work area, it just gets in the way of the content the stuff in the canvas. The UI2 top bar is the most effective and efficient use of space.

I have to agree - the new UI is less efficient and more cumbersome than the existin UI.
Layers are more difficult to navigate (hover to reveal chevrons, Large thumbnails aren’t necessary; I like the easier icon affordance but lock button hovers and visibility icon doesn’t = clunky)

My biggest peeve is the colour selection in right side panel. I’m constantly popping in colour names to the Hex input. But now I have to click to open panel (oof, don’t need this), click to select hex (at least immediately enable text input) and then input hex code or name, and click away overlay. The amount of times I’ve dragged the overlay around trying to click fast into the hex input or close it. Mate—inputting the colour name or code is the primary goal of the colour input. Bring the data forward.
You’re telling me what the colour name is and transarency. I want to change it. that’s why it’s in settings. Put the solution as close to the problem.

This feels like form over function to me. We don’t need pretty. We need fast.
