We just wrapped the big announcements at Config, and we know there’s a lot to take in.

This thread is your space to share reactions, ask questions, and let us know what you're excited about (or still curious about) with regard to Figma Buzz. Our team will be actively reading and sharing relevant takeaways with the product team.

What we’d love to hear from you:

  • What aspects are you most excited about — and why?
  • Where do you still have questions or want more clarity?
  • Anything that didn’t quite land for you yet?

A few quick reminders:

Was excited to use this tool. The layout and interface aligns a lot more closely with how marketers build their content.

However sadly I immediately realised it is worse than our current system. Components do not update, not even ones from saved libraries.

Let me give you a scenario….

Marketer has an SVG illustration for some content. They have added it in to Figma Buzz. But, oh no there’s an issue with the illustration *updates it and publishes* There is no update on Buzz….

You have to… Manually replace every single asset from scratch

Another scenario:
Marketers realise they want the image on their template to occupy a larger space. Yet again, component does not update.

Figma! I’m a bit baffled as to why you wouldn’t leverage your tech in this? What’s going on!

Our agency is collaborating with multiple firms on their design assets - so naturally the idea to create easy-to-use marketing templates for them sounded like a dream come true.

Currently our clients don’t have access to Figma, as it’s too complex of a tool. But with Buzz templates, they would be able to easily switch our texts or images for their most common assets. For this, our clients would be willing to pay seats for their inhouse marketing teams.

However, after trying around with Figma Buzz, I realised that our usecase will not be feasible, as it will mean a big increase in subscription fees for either our agency or our client.

The problem: Figma does not allow to have two separate teams collaborate on files, while using their existing subscriptions.

The workarounds don’t work for us:
1. Option: The client marketing team invites us to their team. We have a set of multiple designers working on client projects. They would need to pay for every single editor, which is not feasible. If a team member changes on our side, we would always need to inform them.
2. Option: We invite them to our team. Every marketing team member from our clients would need to have access, which means a huge increase in subscription fees. Additionally, the client would not actually own their templates.

Our usecase:
1. We would want to create templates and publish them for our client’s team.
2. Our agency would want to be able to use the templates and create an initial set of assets, that the client can then edit (e.g. change the wording on a headline) or export the files.
3. Our clients would want to use the templates on their own as well for simple things like a linkedin post.

The minimum feature we would need is the ability to publish templates to our clients teams and collaborate on Buzz files.

I understand that Figma is originally focused on inhouse teams. But this seems like a huge missed opportunity to spread Figma to inhouse marketing teams of agency’s clients.

Hey Figma, Why not add REAL value to your core product (e.g. better prototyping) instead of giving us a bunch of half-bakes solutions for hobbyists. You are becoming Adobe

Thanks for the feedback Isaac! We’re actively scoping this workflow. Curious when there’s an update to the said illustration, what’s your ideal way of accept the changes?

Thanks for trying out Buzz and share your honest feedback! Have you looked into Connected Projects? This could be a solution to solve your needs. https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/30124855491863-Guide-to-connected-projects

Hey guys, Figma Buzz looks promising but confusing in comparison with Figma. We run hundreds of ads and newsletters per week and got excited about the edit fields, because we have to copy paste the texts all the time. Here is what we would love to have in order to be able to use Buzz:

  • Auto-layout for the parent frame
  • Team members to be able to show-hide every single design element (and symbols) so the layout reflows automatically
  • Team members to be able to swap symbol instances
  • Independent text fields for different assets on the same page (this would be killer)
  • Ability to enter main frame name via edit field
  • Ability to add group of images as a single image

Hi

We would like to request support for uploading .svg files while editing content in Figma Buzz. Currently, there is an option to upload images, but it does not allow us to upload .svg graphics for use. Hope this to be updated soon.

Thanks

Prashant

Quite a simple question really.

Why can’t I add a library to my Figma Buzz. Is this on purpose?
Otherwise I would like to have it as a feature.

You can import your library fro the inserts panel. We are aware that this is rather hidden and will work on improving this workflow. Thank you for your feedback.

Hi, ok I already have my template and a linked library. Now I would like to know how the marketing team using the templates will be able to swap library assets. The “+” icon is disabled when you’re using a published template. Thanks!

Hello again, everyone! Thank you for your feedback on Figma Buzz as we've been actively working on improvements.

@Anders Gressli and @Vxiaozhe1998 — I have good news to share for those who reported trouble using Excel with the bulk create feature. The issue that prevented uploading Excel files containing images has now been resolved. ✅

Really appreciate you taking the time to flag this here and for your patience as we worked to get it sorted out. If you haven't already, feel free to give it another try and let us know if things are working as expected.

For a refresher on how to use this feature, check out this article on Figma Learn: Bulk create assets in Figma Buzz.

I would love to see the “Swap content” option the Edit content section. Right now I did not figure out how to create a powerful template that would be simply copied by our marketing team and all the changes would be done in the Edit content section.

We have a lot of interchangeable components containing vector designs and it is impossible to create templates with all the combinations.

Maybe I am just missing something and I need to wait for better tutorials, etc...

I just ran into this issue myself. The tutorial on youtube shows how to create with bulk BUT it you have multiple versions of a template it’ll create versionOfTempalte x numberOfCells. Which is fine if you have one set design, but if you want to swap elements or template verision it’s a pain.

Promising, issues so far:

  • Design mode should be give me all the tools from Figma as well as plugins. Because of this, so many “core” Figma features are missing from Buzz.
  • I want to be able to utilise my design tokens to power all our social assets, but I can’t load the plugin I use to apply tokens.
  • Autolayout? Again the logic for Autolayout seems different in Buzz than in Figma, why can’t I apply auto layout to a frame.
  • How do components work in Buzz? So far for me, the logic seems different than Figma? I created a “component” in Buzz (I actually couldn’t see a way to natively create the component so I had to create it in a standard design file and paste it in) and it basically just locked all the layers so when I tried to apply text in bulk create it just remained the same as the parent component. Might be a bug.
  • I’m running into an issue where WebP images in bulk create are loaded in and then automatically created.
  • Conditional rendering for layers based on bulk create e.g. Show or Hide conditionals based on wether a value exists in the spreadsheet cell.
  • You should be able to apply a Frame name based on the CSV or Excel data. Its all well and good being able to generate 500 images but they all have the same Frame name. Right now, I’m having to manually rename my exports using a Python script.
  • Admin controls, I want to limit end users of Figma buzz to only be able to access templates from our Organisation, as well as colours, fonts etc.

Overall, it’s a good start but I think you need to lean into the asset generation for organisations rather than a Canva style create tool. I want to empower my Org to stay on brand while using all the features of Figma and Figma Buzz to enable it. On the surface it seems like Buzz will eventually enable this but right now the features are just not there.

Figma Buzz is exactly what was missing, a way for non-designers to us the designs but with the designer still in control. Especially love the way content can be replaced without touching the layout.

One thing missing so far is the possibility to integrate videos. I would use Buzz for Social templates but my client needs to post videos mostly, so I’m waiting for that feature before suggesting Figma Buzz to them.

Is it possible to link the components I’ve created with templates in Buzz?
For example, if I update the component design in Figma,
do I have to manually apply those changes again in Buzz?

It would be great if publishing the components automatically synced them with Buzz as well.

I checked how the syncing works, but it seems a bit complicated.

  1. I updated the component in Figma and published it.

  2. But the components already placed on the page in Buzz didn’t get updated.

  3. Only when I drag a new component from the Buzz library, it reflects the updated version from Figma.

So, it doesn’t sync automatically — which is a bit inconvenient.😢

We're exploring Figma Buzz for automated content creation and have hit a few friction points. Here are our top feature requests to help support scale and automation:

🧩 Workflow & Automation

  • REST API support to replace template variables and export designs programmatically

  • Remember variable mappings when re-uploading CSVs

  • Link file names to spreadsheet values (e.g. set filename from "video_id" column)

📤 Exporting

  • Export as individual PDFs outside of design mode

  • Export multi-page PDFs from a single CSV row

  • Support CMYK and print-specific frames

📂 Bulk Management

  • Bulk file renaming

  • Pagination and text overflow support

🔎 Usability

  • Improve global search for frames or text by ID (theres a delay)

  • Save common column mappings for CSV uploads

  • Pagination and text overflow support

Sounds good! By “text overflow support” will this include resize text to fit the text frame (if there is overflow)? The option to add a min. and max font size with this would also be helpful. Thanks. :)

Auto Layout  in Buzz

would like to have fixed width and hug vertical for the flexible vertical content template.

One thing I have noticed, is that it seems like the overall template can’t hug the content, just the containers inside the template. Our company wants to explore using this for email templates, so these wouldn’t be fixed heights.

This is one of our potential use cases as well, and the fact that templates cannot be set to hug content is deeply frustrating. The ability to limit collaborators to the content they can edit is remarkable, but if the template isn’t responsive, then it’s really only useful for generating static social media content.

I know you probably put your heart and soul into it…

But PLEASE : No more new Figma products. Please focus on your core product!

Yup, a lot of people mentioned Autolayout or something similar for the parent frame, i’d add the same for bot Buzz and Slides.

I really like the idea of the feature, but some parts of the workflows are a bit off:

  1. We cannot persist the linkage between an excel and specific texts/image references. Whenever we swap the excel (bc we populate with new items/assets (in our case product iamges), we have to link again
  2. Images in excels are an absolute antipattern - We have 30 products x 6 images in HD. Good luck opening the excel. Why can’t we just enter links or references? This currently doesn’t work
  3. Dynamic file renaming - We need the files in a specific naming. Now we have to pipe up with cursor and run a script. Would be nice if anything could just be dynamic. Maybe a placeholder like in javascript `${THIS_IS_A_PROPERTY}` for string variables would be nice

Are there any plans to support CMYK export in Figma Buzz?
While I understand the platform is primarily geared toward digital assets, we occasionally create print materials. It would be incredibly helpful if we could export designs as CMYK-profiled PDFs. That way, our marketing team could update content within the existing design framework and generate print-ready files without needing to switch tools.

Hey, we are exploring the use of Figma buzz to redefine how we create a vast amount of content. There are 2 features so far that we have identified that we would love to see added.

  1. When importing a cell of text it would be great to be able to set the weight of individual words in that sentence. That could be achieved in the spreadsheet by maybe making figma be able to read a certain code wrapping the words you want in bold…?
  2. Being able to set the file/frame name from a column in the spreadsheet. We want to be able to automate content for 26+ countries with translations so it would be great to be able to automatically have all the country names in the file name.

Thanks, Figma Buzz is so close to being amazing.

Feature requests:

  • Would be great if a row of artboards could be AI translated into a selected language for localisation.

  • (BUG) The square shape gets rounded corners when stretched out even though the rounded corners setting  is set to 0 (zero) both with and without border settings.

🔍  Top 5 Themes That Came Up in This Thread

1. Bulk Create: Excel limitations, missing URL/SVG support and file size limits

Bulk creation using Excel surfaced a few recurring challenges — especially around inserting images or linking assets. While some found workarounds using Google Sheets, others pointed to large file sizes and the lack of support for URLs or SVGs as blockers in their workflow.

"Having to include the images in a cell makes the files pretty heavy – I got a 15mb spreadsheet just for 3 rows of info. Using URLs instead would make the spreadsheets way lighter." – @Anders Gressli
"I’ve tried 5 different ways of placing the images into cells. No dice, no matter how I format it… Tried with Google Sheets and it works perfectly." – @Ryan48

2. Auto Layout and Responsiveness Needs

There was consistent interest in more responsive layout behavior within Figma Buzz. The current limitation on applying auto layout to the parent frame, along with restricted control over vertical scaling, was seen as a hurdle to building assets that adapt across formats like mobile, desktop, and email.

"The part I’m struggling with is getting auto-layout in the main frame/container. I could only figure out how to resize the template by typing in values. I need a template that will scale responsively vertically so we can use one to cover desktop or mobile." – @John43

3. Template Usability: Locking, Notes, and Responsive Behavior

When working with templates across teams, several contributors noted friction points, including limited options for locking fields, adding helper notes, or swapping instances more intuitively. The lack of hug-content or responsive scaling was also raised as a factor that could make templates feel too rigid in some workflows.

"The ‘Swap content’ feature is not immediately clear for marketing users... I wouldn’t count on my teammate to click the small ‘Swap content’ button if they didn’t know those variants existed in the first place." – @Cindy_Wong1

"It should be possible to remove the possibility to remove restrictions… otherwise users will just unlock everything and we’ll lose brand control." – @SSB

"The fact that templates cannot be set to hug content is deeply frustrating… If the template isn’t responsive, then it’s really only useful for generating static social media content." – @Neil_Norman

4. Design System and Component Sync Gaps

Some users shared challenges when trying to connect Figma Buzz with existing design systems. Updates made in Figma Design didn’t always reflect automatically in Figma Buzz, which led to extra manual steps. Limited access to shared libraries and the lack of plugin support also seemed to create friction for teams aiming to stay consistent across assets.

"You update the component in Figma Design and publish it. There is no update in Buzz… You have to manually replace every single asset from scratch." – @JustAnotherIsaac

5. Print and Video Support Requests

Several replies raised the need for broader export options — including CMYK support for print, multi-page PDFs, and grouped exports. Video preview and export were also mentioned as important for social media workflows and broader content strategies.

"Will we get video preview and video export for Buzz? Another question — will we get CMYK and print export for Buzz?" – @Richard_Meechan

🛠️ What we're doing with this feedback

Some of the feedback shared here has already helped shape updates or surfaced issues we’ve since addressed, while other themes are informing ongoing conversations within our product teams.

Here’s what we can share for now:

  • Excel image upload issues — This has been fixed. Images embedded in Excel files now upload as expected, thanks to early reports in this thread!

  • ⚙️ Auto layout at the parent frame level — This is currently not supported, but your use cases are being reviewed as the team explores layout flexibility in future iterations.
  • 🔄 Swap Content, multi-editing, and content editing controls
These features exist today but aren’t always intuitive, especially for non-designers. The product team is aware of this friction, and this feedback will help inform future improvements to clarity and in-product guidance.
In the meantime, to multi-edit in Figma Buzz, here’s a loom on how to access that:  Watch the Loom video (from amxyz (in reply to Kate Reeves)

  • 📌 Template locking and guidance
Suggestions around stricter locking and helper notes have been passed along. While this isn’t something the team is actively exploring at the moment, the feedback has been shared internally and may help inform future discussions.
  • 🧩 Component sync from Figma Design — We’ve heard the need for easier updates between Figma Design and Figma Buzz. While automatic syncing isn’t available yet, this is an area the team is actively exploring internally.

  • 🔗Library and plugin access —We’re exploring ways to make default libraries more configurable in Figma Buzz, including how colors, fonts, and inserts appear. Plugin support is also being looked into, with more to come, stay tuned!

  • 🖨️ Export options (CMYK, multi-page PDFs, video) — The team is currently working on improved video capabilities and requests for CMYK and PDF are on the team’s radar for future consideration.

  • 🌍Font, encoding, and language support – Issues with diacritics, font compatibility, and encoding (e.g., in Oakes Grotesk) are being investigated, with some bugs possibly tied to Excel vs. Google Sheets handling.

While we don’t have a specific timeline to share, any updates that are released will be documented in our release notes and relevant forum threads.
