Unexpected Double Charge After Cancelling Professional Plan

I’m encountering what appears to be a billing bug related to the Professional (monthly) plan.

Here is what happened, step by step, without revealing any personal or financial information:

  1. I purchased the Professional plan with full seats on Oct 17.

  2. My coworker also purchased a Professional plan separately for their own account.

  3. I created a team and invited a collaborator to work on a project.

  4. Before the paid month ended, I cancelled the Professional plan around Nov 1, well before renewal.

  5. After cancellation, my account correctly showed the Free plan and no active subscription.

  6. However, on Nov 11, I received a new charge of $20, for the same plan period as the previous billing cycle — even though I had cancelled and was already downgraded.

  7. I confirmed through my bank that the payment was actually taken.

  8. My Figma account still shows Free plan, meaning nothing was renewed — yet a charge was still processed.

This looks like an accidental second charge for a billing cycle that I had already paid for.

I would appreciate help confirming:

  • Why this charge occurred after a confirmed cancellation,

  • And how to get it refunded.

If support needs invoice numbers, I can provide them privately through the official support form.

Thanks in advance.

Hey @Tamir Naranbaatar — welcome to the Figma Forum, I’m glad we connected.

Thank you for outlining everything so clearly. I can see why this would be confusing, and you did the right thing by flagging it. Based on the steps you shared, it’s worth having our team take a closer look at the exact cancellation timing and the renewal window. One quick question for context: Do you recall moving that collaborator to a View seat at any point?

To make things easier, I’ve opened a support ticket on your behalf so our Product Support team can investigate the charge in detail and confirm whether a refund is due. Your case number is: 1607860, and they’ll reach out directly to the email associated with your Figma account once they’ve gathered more information.

In the meantime, this article may help clarify how additional charges can sometimes occur: There are additional charges in my Figma bill.

Thanks again for your patience — we’ll make sure this gets fully sorted out.

@Tom Reem Thanks for reaching out. I don’t fully understand your question. Do you mean did I change my team member’s access permission to view like in this screenshot?

Hey @Tamir Naranbaatar — thanks for your patience while I caught up here.

To add a bit more context around what may be happening: When you share a file and others start editing with you, the team will automatically assign a Full paid seat. This happens even if you already have a paid plan on another account or team.

If anything still feels off or you’d like someone to review the details of your setup, our Product Support team can take a closer look at your settings. In the meantime, this guide offers a breakdown of how seats work across teams: Manage seats in Figma.
