Topbar color bug

Ivan_96

Today when I opened my Figma the top-bar colour changed on its own. 😡

I’m using a light-mode theme, and I was happy with the black top bar.

The top bar is not supposed to be grey, even in light mode, the contrast is terrible, and it looks like a UI from 90’s. Please fix this bug as soon as possible, this is unacceptable!

Hi @Ivan_96

I understand you've noticed a change in your navigation bar color. It used to be black when you were using the light theme, and now it's gray.

That black navigation bar you remember (and can spot in some of the screenshots on Navigating UI3: Figma's new UI) – wasn't that part of our older UI2?

The gray color is the standard for the navigation bar when you're in the light theme on UI3.

As of April 30, 2025, UI3 has become the default experience for all Figma users. So, bringing the black navigation bar back would be considered a feature request now.

We truly appreciate your input and are always eager to hear how we can improve. If you'd like to suggest this change, we'd love for you to share your thoughts in: Share Your Feedback

It's a great place for our team to see what features our users are wishing for!

Thanks,

Hi @Junko3 ,

Thank you for the clarification, I must say I’m surprised and deeply disappointed that a company like Figma would release a top bar that does not even pass the contrast test:

The black top bar was part of the old UI2, but it stayed black even in the UI3. It was black for a long time, even tho I was using the UI3, it just randomly changed to grey on its own yesterday.

I will submit the feature request for bringing back the black top bar in light mode.

I made a feature request, but I doubt Figma will listen to me.

I think there is a way to “fix” it locally:

This is what I achieved so far :

I managed to change the colour to black, but background colour is still transparent. I want to remove transparency.

Can someone help me?
