Missing Auto Layout settings section in the right panel (Desktop app)

Anastasia70

Hi,

The Auto Layout settings section has disappeared from the right-hand panel in the desktop version of the app.

I’ve thoroughly checked the entire panel, and the Auto Layout section is definitely missing.

I then opened the web version, and everything is there — the section appears as usual.

So technically, Auto Layout is working: the text inside behaves as expected, and I see the notification that Auto Layout was created. But the controls for it are missing from the right panel in the desktop version.

Could you please help?

Thanks in advance!

I figured it out — the Auto Layout section was hidden because I was in Draw mode in the desktop app.
Once I exited Draw mode, the panel returned to normal and I could see the Auto Layout settings again.

Lmao.

As far as I understand, I somehow hid it in the desktop app, but I have no idea how to bring it back :(((

Hey @Anastasia70 ,
Glad to hear you have found a fix! Yes, you need to come back to the Figma design tool in order to see the Auto layout section.

To go further, here is our guide to navigate in the Figma's new UI3.

I’ve gone ahead and mark as solved your topic. Thanks! 🙂

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that the Auto Layout settings section is missing from the right-hand panel in the desktop version of Figma. I’ve checked carefully, but it’s definitely not there.

When I switch to the web version, the Auto Layout section appears as usual, and everything works fine—the text behaves as expected and I get notifications that Auto Layout is applied. But in the desktop app, the controls for Auto Layout just don’t show up.

Could anyone help me figure out why this is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @Wirkkarl ,
This seems odd, I can see the auto-layout on desktop app. Could you please make sure you're in Design mode, and not in another mode like Draw or Dev Mode? Check the toolbar (see below) and ensure you’ve selected the asset with Auto Layout applied.

If possible, please share a screenshot of what you see in your end. It would be better for us to visualise the issue, thank you!

If you still can’t see it, please try clearing the cache on desktop app and make sure your desktop app is up to date. You can check our guide to the Figma desktop app for further information.
Let me know how it goes!
